Misuse of Riches

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

1

А нуте ж ви, багаті, плачте ридаючи над злиднями вашими, що надходять.

2

Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

2

Багатство ваше згнило, і шати ваші міль поїла.

3

Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Золото ваше та срібло поржавіло, і ржа їх на сьвідченнє проти вас буде, і з'їсть тїло ваше, як огонь.

4

Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Ось, плата робітників, що порали ниви ваші, задержана од вас, голосить; і голосїннє женцїв до ушей Господа Саваота дійшло.

5

Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

Розкошували ви на землї та буяли; повгодовували серця ваші, мов на день заколення.

6

Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Осудили ви, убили праведного; він не противив ся вам.

7

Patience in Suffering

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Терпіть же оце, браттє моє, аж до приходу Господнього. Ось, ратай жде доброго овощу з землї, дожидаючись терпіливо його, доки прийме дощ раннїй і пізнїй.

8

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

8

Терпіть же й ви, утвердїте серця ваші, бо прихід Господень наближуєть ся.

9

Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

9

Не зітхайте один на одного, браттє, щоб вас не осуджено: ось, суддя перед дверима стоїть.

10

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

За взір тяжкої муки і довгого терпіння прийміть, браттє моє, пророків, що глаголали імям Господнїм.

11

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

11

Ось, ми звемо блаженними, хто терпів. Про терпіннє Йовове чули ви, і кончину Господню видїли; бо Господь вельми милосерний і благий.

12

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Перше ж усього, браттє моє, не кленїтесь нї небом, нї землею, нї иншою якою клятьбою; а нехай буде в вас: так, так, нї, нї, щоб не впали ви в осуд.

The Prayer of Faith

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

13

Хто між вами тяжко страдає? нехай молить ся; хто радїє? нехай сьпіває.

14

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

14

Чи хто нездужає між вами, нехай призове пресвитерів церкви, і нехай молять ся над ним, помазавши його оливою в імя Господнє;

15

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

15

і молитва віри спасе болящого, і підійме його Господь; а коли гріхи вчинив, відпустять ся йому.

16

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

16

Визнавайте один одному гріхи, і молїте ся один за одного, щоб сцїлитись вам. Много бо може молитва праведного ревна.

17

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

17

Ілия був чоловік подобний нам страстями, а помоливсь молитвою, щоб не було дощу, то й не було дощу на землї три роки і шість місяцїв.

18

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

А знов помолив ся, то й дало небо дощ, і земля зростила овощ свій.

19

Restoring a Sinner

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

19

Браттє, коли хто з вас заблудить від правди, і наверне хто його,

20

Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

20

нехай знає, що навернувший грішника від блудної дороги його спасе душу від смерти і покриє множество гріхів.
