Overcoming the World

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Кожен, хто вірує, що Ісус — то Христос, той родився від Бога. І кожен, хто любить Того, Хто породив, любить і Того, Хто народився від Нього.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

Що ми любимо Божих дітей, дізнає́мося з того, коли любимо Бога і Його заповіді доде́ржуємо.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Бо то любов Божа, щоб ми доде́ржували Його заповіді, Його ж заповіді не тяжкі.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Бо кожен, хто родився від Бога, перемагає світ. А оце перемога, що світ перемогла, — віра наша.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

А хто світ перемагає, як не той, хто вірує, що Ісус — то Син Божий?

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

То Той, що прийшов був водою та кров'ю, — Ісус Христос. І не тільки водою, а водою та кров'ю. І Дух свідчить, бо Дух — то правда.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Бо троє свідкують на небі: Отець, Слово й Святий Дух, і ці Троє — Одно.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

І троє свідкують на землі: дух, і вода, і кров, і троє — в одно.

Jesus is the Son of God

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

Коли ми приймаємо сві́дчення лю́дське, то свідчення Боже вартніше, бо це свідчення Бога, яким сві́дчив про Сина Свого́.

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Хто вірує в Божого Сина, той сві́дчення має в собі. Хто не вірує Богові, той учинив Його неправдомовцем, бо не вірив у свідчення, яким Бог сві́дчив про Сина Свого́.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

А це сві́дчення, що Бог життя вічне нам дав, а життя це — у Сині Його.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Хто має Сина, той має життя; хто не має Сина Божого, той не має життя.

Purpose and Concluding Remarks

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Оце написав я до вас, що віруєте в Ім'я́ Божого Сина, щоб ви знали, що ви віруючи в Ім'я Божого Сина, маєте вічне життя.

14

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

І оце та відвага, що ми маємо до Нього, — що коли чого просимо згі́дно волі Його, то Він слухає нас.

15

And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

15

А як знаємо, що Він слухає нас, чого тільки ми просимо, то знаємо, що оде́ржуємо те, чого просимо від Нього.

16

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Коли хто бачить брата свого́, що грішить гріхом не на смерть, нехай мо́литься за нього, — і Він життя йому дасть, тим, хто грішить не на смерть. Є й гріх на смерть, — не про нього кажу́, щоб молився.

17

All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

17

Усяка неправда — то гріх. Та є гріх не на смерть.

18

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

18

Ми знаємо, що кожен, хто народився від Бога, не грішить, — бо хто народився від Бога, той себе береже, і лукавий його не торкається.

19

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

19

Ми знаємо, що ми від Бога, і що ввесь світ лежить у злі.

20

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

20

Ми знаємо, що Син Божий прийшов, і розум нам дав, щоб пізнати Правдивого, і щоб бути в правдивому Сині Його, Ісусі Христі. Він — Бог правдивий і вічне життя!

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
