Overcoming the World

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Кожний, хто вірить, що Ісус — це Христос, той народився від Бога. І кожний, хто любить Того, Хто народив, любить і Того, Хто народився від Нього.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

З того дізнаємося, що ми любимо дітей Божих, коли любимо Бога та виконуємо Його заповіді.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Бо це любов до Бога — дотримуватися Його заповідей! А Його заповіді не тяжкі.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Адже кожний, хто народився від Бога, перемагає світ. А перемога, що перемогла світ, — це наша віра!

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

А хто перемагає світ, як не той, хто вірить, що Ісус є Божий Син?

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Той, хто прийшов водою та кров’ю, [та Духом], — це Ісус Христос. Не самою водою, але водою і кров’ю! І Дух є Тим, Хто свідчить про Нього, бо Дух — то істина.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Тому що Тих, які свідчать [на небі], є троє: [Отець, Слово і Дух Святий; і Ці троє — одно].

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

[І троє свідчать на землі:] Дух, вода і кров; і ці троє — одно.

Jesus is the Son of God

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

Коли ми приймаємо людське свідчення, то свідчення Боже є більшим. Адже це — свідчення Бога, Який засвідчив про Свого Сина.

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Хто вірить у Божого Сина, той має свідчення в собі. Хто не вірить Богові, той зробив Його неправдомовцем, бо не повірив у свідчення, яким Бог засвідчив про Свого Сина.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

А свідчення це, що Бог дав нам вічне життя, і це життя — в Його Сині.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Хто має Сина, той має життя; хто не має Божого Сина, той не має життя.

Purpose and Concluding Remarks

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Ось це я написав вам, [віруючим в Ім’я Божого Сина], щоб ви знали, що віруючи в Ім’я Божого Сина, маєте вічне життя.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

І це та відвага, яку маємо до Нього, що коли чогось попросимо згідно з Його волею, Він вислуховує нас!

15

And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

15

А коли знаємо, що слухає нас, — чого б тільки ми не попросили, — то знаємо, що одержуємо те, чого просили в Нього.

16

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Коли хто побачить свого брата, який грішить гріхом не на смерть, нехай молиться, — і дасть йому життя, — тим, які грішать не на смерть. Є гріх на смерть; не кажу, щоби про нього молитися.

17

All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

17

Кожна несправедливість є гріхом; та є гріх не на смерть.

18

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

18

Знаємо, що кожний, хто народився від Бога, не грішить. Адже хто народився від Бога, береже себе, і лукавий не торкається його.

19

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

19

Знаємо, що ми — від Бога, і що весь світ перебуває в злі.

20

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Знаємо, що Божий Син прийшов і дав нам розуміння, щоб ми пізнали Істинного і перебували в Істинному — в Його Сині Ісусі Христі. Він є істинний Бог і вічне життя.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
