Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you.

Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: “The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near,” so that you do not show ill will toward the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin. -

“Beware that there is no base thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of remission, is near,’ and your eye is hostile toward your poor brother, and you give him nothing; then he may cry to the LORD against you, and it will be a sin in you. -
Do not be mean-spirited and refuse someone a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the needy person cries out to the LORD, you will be considered guilty of sin.

Гляди, щоб у твоєму серці не зродилась ось така грішна думка: надходить, мовляв, сьомий рік, рік відпусту! — та й станеш споглядати лихим оком на свого рідного брата, й не даси йому нічого; він закликав би тоді Господа проти тебе, й ти взяв би гріх на себе.

Бережись, щоб не зродилась грішна думка в серцї твоїм, як скажеш собі: надходить семий рік, рік відпусту! Та й станеш дивитись лихим оком на вбогого брата твого, і не даси йому нїчого, і нарікати ме він на тебе перед Господом і буде на тобі гріх. -
Стережися, щоб у серці твоїм не зродилася зла думка, щоб ти не сказав: „Набли́зився сьомий рік, рік відпу́щення“, і буде зле твоє око на вбогого брата твого, і не даси ти йому, то він буде кли́кати на тебе до Господа, і буде на тобі гріх.

Берегись, чтобы не затаить подлую мысль: «Седьмой год, год прощения долгов, близок», и чтобы от того не озлобиться на своего нуждающегося брата и не отказать ему. Иначе он взмолится к Господу против тебя, и ты окажешься виновным в грехе.

Никогда никому не отказывай в помощи только из-за того, что приближается седьмой год, год прощения долгов, пусть эта беззаконная мысль тебе даже в голову не приходит. Никогда не думай плохо о том, кто нуждается в помощи, и не отказывайся помочь ему, ибо если не поможешь тому бедняку, то он пожалуется на тебя Господу, и Господь найдёт тебя виновным в грехе.
