The Blessings of Obedience
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

„І станеться, якщо дійсно будеш ти слухатися голосу Господа, Бога свого, щоб додержувати ви́конання всіх Його заповідей, що я наказую тобі сьогодні, то поставить тебе Господь, Бог твій, найвищим над усі народи землі.
And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
І при́йдуть на тебе всі оці благослове́ння, і досягнуть тебе, коли ти слухатимешся голосу Господа, Бога свого.
Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
Благослове́нний ти в місті, і благослове́нний ти на полі!
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Благослове́нний плід утроби твоєї, і плід твоєї землі, і плід худоби твоєї, по́рід биків твоїх і коті́ння ота́ри твоєї!
Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
Благослове́нний ти у вході своїм, і благослове́нний ти в ви́ході своїм!
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
Господь учинить, що вороги́ твої, які повстають на тебе, будуть побиті перед тобою, — вони однією доро́гою вийдуть навпере́йми тебе, а сімома́ дорогами втікатимуть перед тобою.
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Господь накаже Своєму благослове́нню бути з тобою в комо́рах твоїх, та в усьому, чого доторкнеться рука твоя, і благословлятиме тебе в краю́, що Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі.
The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
Господь поставить тебе Собі за святий народ, як присягнув був тобі, коли ти будеш доде́ржуватися за́повідей Господа, Бога твого, і пі́деш дорогами Його.
And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
І побачать усі народи землі, що Господнє Ім'я́ кличеться на тобі, — і будуть боятися тебе.
And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
І Господь дасть тобі добрий при́ріст у пло́ді утроби твоєї, і в пло́ді худоби твоєї, і в пло́ді поля твого на тій землі, що Господь заприсягнув був батькам твоїм, щоб дати тобі.
The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Господь відчинить для тебе Свою добру скарбни́цю, небеса́, щоб дати дощ для кра́ю твого в ча́сі його, і щоб поблагослови́ти всякий чин твоєї руки. І ти позичатимеш багатьом народам, а сам не позичатимеш ні в кого.
And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
І вчинить тебе Господь головою, а не хвостом, і ти будеш тільки ве́рхом, а не будеш до́лом, коли будеш слухатися заповідей Господа, Бога свого, що я сьогодні наказую тобі, щоб додержувати й виконувати,
And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
і не відступиш від усіх тих слів, що я сьогодні наказую вам, ані право́руч, ані ліво́руч, щоб ходити за іншими бога́ми й служити їм.
The Curses of Disobedience
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

Та станеться, коли ти не будеш слухатися голосу Господа, Бога свого, щоб додержувати викона́ння всіх Його заповідей та постанов Його, що я сьогодні наказую тобі, то при́йдуть на тебе всі оці прокля́ття, і досягнуть тебе:
Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
Прокля́тий ти в місті, і прокля́тий ти в полі!
Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Проклятий плід утро́би твоєї та плід твоєї землі, по́рід биків твоїх та коті́ння отари твоєї!
Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
Прокля́тий ти у вході своїм, і проклятий ти в виході своїм!
The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
Пошле Господь на тебе прокля́ття, і замі́шання, і нещастя на всякий по́чин твоєї руки, що ти зробиш, аж поки ти не будеш ви́гублений, і аж поки ти скоро не загинеш через зло твоїх чи́нів, що опустив ти Мене.
The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
Прилі́пить Господь до тебе морови́цю, аж поки вона не вигубить тебе з-над землі, куди ти входиш посісти її.
The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Ударить Господь тебе сухо́тами, і пропа́сницею, і запа́ленням, і гаря́чкою, і мече́м, і посу́хою, і ірже́ю, — і вони будуть гнати тебе, аж поки ти не загинеш.
And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
І стане небо твоє, що над твоєю головою, міддю, а земля, що під тобою, залізом.
The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Дасть Господь замість дощу Краєві твоєму ку́ряву, а порох із неба буде схо́дити на тебе, аж поки не будеш ти вигублений.
The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Віддасть тебе Господь на пора́зку твоїм ворогам. Однією дорогою ти ви́йдеш навперейми його, а сімома́ дорогами втікатимеш перед ним, і будеш розпорошений по всіх ца́рствах землі.
And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
І буде твій труп на їжу для всякого пта́ства небесного та для худоби зе́мної, і не буде нікого, хто б їх пополо́шив.
The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
Ударить тебе Господь єгипетським гнояко́м, ґу́дзами, лишая́ми, стру́пами такими, що не зможеш їх ви́лікувати.
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
Ударить тебе Господь божеві́ллям, і сліпото́ю, і туподу́мством.
And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
І будеш ти ма́цати в пі́вдень, як ма́цає сліпий у те́мряві, і не матимеш пово́дження в дорогах своїх, і будеш ти по всі дні тільки ути́скуваний та грабо́ваний, та не буде кому боронити.
Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
Одру́жишся з жінкою, та хто інший лежатиме з нею. Хату збудуєш, та в ній не сидітимеш. Засадиш виноградинка, та не будеш користатися ним.
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
Заколений буде віл твій на оча́х твоїх, та їсти не будеш із нього. Твій осел буде заграбо́ваний перед тобою, і не вернеться до тебе. Ота́ра твоя ві́ддана буде ворогам твоїм, і не буде кому боронити тебе.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Сини твої та до́чки твої будуть віддані іншому наро́дові, а очі твої будуть бачити й гинути за ними ці́лий день, а твоя рука не матиме сили.
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
Плід твоєї землі та ввесь труд твій поїсть народ, якого ти не знав, а ти будеш тільки ути́скуваний та гно́блений по всі дні.
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
І ти збожево́лієш від того, що бачитимуть очі твої.
The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
Ударить тебе Господь злим гнояко́м на колінах і на сте́гнах, від якого не зможеш ви́лікуватися, від стопи ніг твоїх і аж до че́репа твого.
The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
Відведе́ Господь тебе та царя твого, якого поставиш над собою, до народу, якого не знав ти та батьки́ твої, і ти будеш служити там іншим бога́м, — де́реву та ка́меневі.
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
І станеш ти страхі́ттям, погово́ром та посміхо́вищем серед усіх наро́дів, куди відведе́ тебе Господь.
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
Багато насіння ви́несеш на поле, та мало збереш, — бо пожере́ його сарана́.
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
Позасаджуєш виноградники й будеш обробляти, та не будеш пити вина й не будеш збирати, — бо пожере його черва́.
Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
Будуть у тебе оливки по всім кра́ї твоїм, та оливою не будеш маститися, — бо поспада́є оливка твоя.
Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
Ти поро́диш синів і дочо́к, та не будуть для тебе вони, — бо пі́дуть у неволю.
All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
Усяке твоє де́рево та плід твоєї землі обсяде черва́.
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
Прихо́дько, що серед тебе, піднесеться понад тебе ви́соко-ви́соко, а ти зі́йдеш низько-низько.
He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
Він тобі позичатиме, а ти йому не позичатимеш, він стане головою, а ти станеш хвостом.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
І при́йдуть на тебе всі оці прокля́ття, і будуть гнати тебе, і доженуть тебе, аж поки ти будеш ви́гублений, бо не слухав ти голосу Господа, Бога свого, щоб виконувати заповіді Його та постанови Його, що Він наказав був тобі.
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
І будуть вони на тобі на озна́ку та на до́каз, та на насінні твоєму аж навіки.
Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
За те, що не служив ти Господе́ві, Богові своєму, у радості та в добрі серця, із рясно́ти всього,
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
то будеш служити во́рогові своєму, якого Господь пошле на тебе, у голоді, і в пра́гненні, і в наготі́, і в недостатку всього, а він дасть залізне ярмо́ на твою шию, аж поки вигубить тебе.
The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
Господь нанесе на тебе народ іздале́ка, з кінця землі, так, як летить орел, народ, що мови його ти не розумієш,
A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
народ жорсто́кий, що не зважатиме на старо́го, а для юнака́ не буде милости́вий.
And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
І він буде жерти плід твоєї худоби та плід твоєї землі, аж поки вигубить тебе, і він не позоставить тобі збіжжя, ані виноградного со́ку, ані оливи, ані по́роду биків твоїх, ані коті́ння ота́ри твоєї, аж поки вигубить тебе.
And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
І він буде облягати тебе в усіх твоїх бра́мах, аж поки порозвалює по всім твоїм кра́ї твої міцні і укрі́плені му́ри, на які ти наді́явся, і буде гноби́ти тебе в усіх твоїх брамах по всім твоїм кра́ї, що дав тобі Господь, Бог твій.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
І будеш ти їсти плід утро́би своєї, тіло синів своїх та дочо́к своїх, що дав тобі Господь, Бог твій, в обло́зі та в у́тиску, яким буде гноби́ти тебе твій ворог.
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
Кожен найлагідні́ший серед тебе й найбільше ви́пещений, — буде око його лихе на брата свого, і на жінку ло́ня свого, і на решту синів своїх, що позоставить їх ворог,
So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
щоб не дати ані о́дному з них тіла синів своїх, що буде він їсти, бо йому не позоста́неться нічого в обло́зі та в у́тискові, яким буде утиска́ти тебе твій ворог по всіх твоїх брамах.
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
Найлагідні́ша між тобою й найбільше ви́пещена, що через пе́щення та ніжність не про́бувала ставити на землю стопи́ своєї ноги, — зле буде око її на мужа ло́ня свого, і на сина свого, і на дочку́ свою,
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
і на по́слід, що виходить з-поміж ніг її при породі, і на дітей своїх, що поро́дить, — бо поїсть їх таємно через недостаток усього в обло́зі та в у́тиску, яким буде гноби́ти тебе твій ворог у брамах твоїх.
If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
Якщо ти не будеш доде́ржувати, щоб виконувати всі слова́ цього Зако́ну, написані в цій книзі, щоб боятися того славного й страшно́го Ймення Господа, Бога твого,
Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
то Господь наведе́ надзвичайні порази на тебе, та порази на насіння твоє, порази великі та певні, і хвороби злі та постійні.
Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
І наведе́ Він на тебе всякий єгипетський біль, якого боявся ти, а він пристане до тебе.
Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Також усяку хворобу та всяку поразу, що не написана в книзі цього Зако́ну, — наведе́ їх Господь на тебе, аж поки бу́деш ти ви́гублений.
And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
І позостане вас мало, — за́мість того, що були ви, щодо числе́нности, як зо́рі небесні, — бо ти не слухався голосу Господа, Бога свого.
And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
І станеться, як Господь радів був вами, коли робив вам добро, і коли розмно́жував вас, так буде радіти Господь вами, коли вигубля́тиме вас та коли вини́щуватиме вас, — і ви будете ви́рвані з-над цієї землі, куди ти входиш посісти її.
And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
І розпоро́шить тебе Господь серед усіх народів від кінця землі й аж до кінця землі, і ти служитимеш там іншим бога́м, яких не знав ані ти, ані батьки твої, — де́реву та ка́меневі.
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
І поміж цими народами не будеш ти спокійний, і не буде місця спочи́нку для стопи́ твоїх ніг. І Господь дасть тобі там серце тремтя́че, і осла́блення очей, і омліва́ння душі.
And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
І буде життя твоє ви́сіти на волоску перед тобою і ти боятимешся вдень та вночі, і не будеш певний свого життя.
In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
Уранці ти скажеш: „О, якби вечір!“, а ввечері скажеш: „О, якби ра́нок!“ зо стра́ху серця свого, що будеш боятися, та з виді́ння очей своїх, що будеш бачити.
And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
І верне тебе Господь до Єгипту на кораблях тією дорогою, про яку я казав тобі, що вже більше не побачиш її, і там ви продаватиметеся ворогам своїм за рабів та за невільниць, — та не буде покупця́“.
