Submission to Authorities

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

1

Каждый человек должен подчиняться правящей власти, потому что нет власти, не установленной Богом. Все существующие власти установлены Богом.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

Следовательно, тот, кто восстает против власти, восстает против установленного Богом, и кто так поступает, тот сам на себя навлекает суд.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

Правители страшны не тем, кто делает добро, а тем, кто делает зло. Если хочешь жить без страха перед властью, делай добро и получишь от нее похвалу.

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Представитель власти на службе у Бога для твоего блага. Если же ты делаешь зло, то берегись, он не напрасно носит меч. Он — слуга Божий, орудие Его гнева на того, кто делает зло.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

Так что необходимо подчиняться власти не только из страха перед наказанием, но и по совести.

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Вы и налоги платите, потому что стоящие у власти — слуги Божьи, посвящающие себя своему делу.

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Так что отдавайте всем то, что им надлежит: кому налог — налог, кому пошлину — пошлину, кому уважение — уважение, кому честь — честь.

Love Fulfills the Law

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Не оставайтесь в долгу ни у кого ни в чем, кроме долга любви друг к другу, потому что любящий ближнего исполнил Закон.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Вот в чем суть повелений: «не нарушай супружескую верность», «не убивай», «не кради», «не желай»,83 и суть любого другого повеления одна — «люби ближнего твоего, как самого себя».84

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Любовь не причиняет зла ближнему, поэтому любовь и есть исполнение Закона.

Clothe Yourselves with Christ

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Вы ведь знаете, какое сейчас время, что настал час пробудиться вам ото сна, потому что наше спасение сейчас гораздо ближе, чем оно было тогда, когда мы только уверовали.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Ночь приближается к концу, и наступает день. Так давайте же оставим дела тьмы и наденем доспехи света.

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Будем жить достойно, как при свете дня, не предаваясь оргиям, пьянству, разврату, распущенности, вражде и зависти.

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Оденьтесь лучше в Господа Иисуса Христа и не думайте об угождении своей греховной природе и ее желаниям.
