What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

Так у чому ж перевага юдеїв над іншими людьми, і яка користь від обрізання?
Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
Їхня перевага велика у багатьох відношеннях. Насамперед їм довірені Слова Божі.
For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
А що як деякі з них невірні Богу? Їхня невірність не знищить вірність Божу.
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Звісно, ні! Бог завжди правдивий, навіть якщо кожна людина неправдива. Як сказано у Святому Писанні:
«Щоб ти був виправданий, коли будеш свідчити, і коли судитимуть тебе, то переможеш».

But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
Що скажемо ми, коли неправедність наша виявляє праведність Божу? Невже Бог несправедливий, коли гнівається на нас? (Так міркують деякі з людей).
God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?
Звісно, ні! Бо якби Бог був несправедливим, як міг би Він судити світ?
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

There is No One Righteous
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

Що ж виходить? Чи ми, юдеї, маємо перевагу над поганами? Анітрохи! Бо я вже казав, що як юдеї, так і неюдеї, — всі однаково винні у гріху.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Як сказано у Святому Писанні:
«Праведного жодного немає!
«Праведного жодного немає!
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Немає жодного, хто розуміє Бога або шукає Бога.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Всі люди відвернулися від Нього, всі до одного стали нікчемними. Немає тих, хто робить добрі справи. Немає жодного!»
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
«Уста їх подібні до гробниць розкритих, на язиці ж у кожного брехня».«На устах їхніх зміїна отрута».
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
Хоч би куди ішли вони, з собою скрізь несуть руїну і страждання.
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Зараз ми знаємо: все, що сказане в Законі, звернене до тих, кому Закон був даний. І це замкне уста всім, хто намагатиметься мовити хоч слово у своє виправдання, та щоб увесь світ був у відповіді перед судом Божим.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Бо ніхто не може виправдатися перед Богом, виконуючи Закон. Адже Закон тільки виявляє очевидність гріха.
Justified by Faith
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Та зараз, незалежно від Закону, відкрилася правда Божа, хоча про це свідчать Закон і пророки.
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Бог робить людей праведними через віру в Ісуса Христа.[2] Всі люди рівні й немає між ними різниці.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Бо всі люди згрішили, і всім їм бракує Слави Божої.
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Усі люди стали праведні перед Богом завдяки дару Божої милості, завдяки визволенню, яке Бог здійснив через Ісуса Христа.
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Бог віддав Ісуса в жертву для прощення всіх гріхів людських через віру, і показав цим, що Він — справедливий. Адже завдяки Своїй терпимості, Він залишав усі гріхи, здійснені в минулому, без покарання.
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Він робив так, щоб нині показати справедливість Свою і щоб бути справедливим, водночас виправдовуючи тих, хто має віру у Ісуса.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Чи є тоді чого пишатися собою? Немає! Чому? Тому що ми слідуємо за Законом віри, та не за Законом справ.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Бо ми вважаємо, що людина стає праведною перед Богом вірою своєю, незалежно від виконання того, що вимагає Закон.
Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
Чи Бог належить лише юдеям? Хіба Він не належить також і неюдеям? Так, Він належить і їм.
Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Оскільки Бог єдиний, то Він виправдає юдеїв [3] і поган [4] завдяки їхній вірі.
