О, коли б потерпі́ли ви трохи безу́мство моє! Але й те́рпите ви мене.
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
Бо пильную про вас пильністю Божою, заручив бо я вас одно́му чоловікові, щоб Христові приве́сти вас чистою дівою.
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Та боюсь я, — як змій звів був Єву лука́вством своїм, щоб так не попсувалися ваші думки́, і ви не вхилилися від простоти́ й чи́стости, що в Христі.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Коли бо хто при́йде й зачне пропові́дувати про Ісуса іншого, про якого ми не проповідували, або при́ймете іншого Духа, якого ви не прийняли, або іншу Єва́нгелію, якої ви не прийняли́, — то радо терпіли б ви те!
For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
Та ду́маю я, що нічим не лишаюсь позад передні́ших апо́столів.
But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
Хоч і неук я словом, але не знання́м, та всюди в усьому ми ви́явлені поміж вами.
Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
Чи я гріх учинив, себе впокоря́ючи, щоб підвищити вас, бо я Божу Єва́нгелію благовістив для вас дармо?
I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
Оббирав я інші Церкви́, приймаючи плату для служіння вам. А коли я прийшов до вас і терпів недостачу, то ніко́го я не обтя́жив.
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
Бо мій нестаток попо́внили бра́ти, що прийшли з Македонії; і в усьому беріг я себе, щоб не бути для вас тягаре́м, і збережу́.
As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
Як правда Христова в мені, так оця похвала́ не замо́вчана буде про мене в країнах Ахаї.
Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
Для чо́го? Тому́, що я вас не люблю́? Відо́мо те Богові!
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
А що я роблю́, те й робитиму, щоб відтя́ти причину для тих, хто шукає причини, щоб у то́му, чим хва́ляться, показались такі, як і ми.
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Такі бо фальшиві апо́столи, лукаві робітники́, що підро́блюються на Христових апо́столів.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
І не дивно, бо сам сатана́ прикидається а́нголом світла!
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Отож, не велика це річ, якщо й слуги його прикидаються слу́гами праведности. Буде їхній кінець згідно з учинками їхніми!
Paul's Sufferings and Service
I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.

Зно́ву кажу́: хай ніхто не вважає мене за безумного! А як ні, то прийміть мене бодай як безумного, щоб хоч трохи й я похвалився!
That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
А що я кажу́, не кажу́ того в Господі, але ніби в безу́мстві — у цій частині хвали́.
Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
Через те ж, що тілом багато-хто хваляться, то й я похвалюся.
For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
Бо ви те́рпите радо безумних, самі мудрими бувши.
For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
Бо ви терпите, коли вас хто нево́лить, коли хто об'їдає, коли хто обдирає, коли хто підвищується, коли хто по що́ках вас б'є.
I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
На безчестя кажу́, що ми ніби стратили сили. Коли хто відва́житься чим, то — скажу́ нерозумно — відважуюся й я.
Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
Євреї вони? — То й я. Ізра́їльтяни вони? — То й я. Насіння вони Авраамове? — То й я!
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
Слу́ги Христові вони? — Говорю́ нерозумне: більш я! Я був більш у пра́цях, у ранах над міру, частіш у в'язницях, часто при смерті.
Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
Від юдеїв п'ять раз я прийняв був по сорок уда́рів без о́дного,
Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
тричі ки́ями бито мене, один раз мене каменува́ли, тричі розбивсь корабель, ніч і день я пробу́в у глибині́ морській;
In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
у мандрі́вках я часто бува́в, бував у небезпеках на річках, у небезпеках розбійничих, у небезпеках свого наро́ду, у небезпеках поган, у небезпеках по міста́х, у небезпеках на пустині, у небезпеках на морі, у небезпеках між братами фальшивими,
In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
у висна́жуванні та в праці, часто в недосипа́нні, у голоді й спразі, часто в по́сті, у холоді та в наготі́.
Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
Окрім зо́внішнього, налягають на мене денні повинності й журба про всі Церкви́.
Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
Хто слабує, а я не слабую? Хто споку́шується, а я не палю́ся?
If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
Коли треба хвалитись, то неміччю я похвалюся.
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
Знає Бог і Отець Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, — а Він благослове́нний навіки, — що я не говорю́ неправди.
In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
