Imitators of God

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Оце ж будьте послїдувателями Божими, як любі дїти,

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

і ходїть у любові, яко ж і Христос улюбив нас і оддав себе за нас на жертву і на посьвят Богу, у солодкі пахощі.

3

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

3

Блуд же і всяка нечистота або зажерливість нехай і не згадуєть ся між вами, як подобає сьвятим,

4

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

нї безсором і дурні слова, або жарти і неподобиє; а лучче дякуваннє.

5

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Се бо знайте, що нї один блудник, або нечистий, або зажерливий, котрий єсть ідолослужитель, не має наслїддя в царстві Христа і Бога.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Нехай нїхто не зводить вас марними словами, бо за се приходить гнїв Божий на синів непокірних.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

7

Не бувайте ж спільниками їх.

Children of Light

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

8

Ви бо були колись тьмою, тепер же (ви) сьвітло в Господї; ходїть же яко дїти сьвітла:

9

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

9

(бо овощ духа — у всякій добростї і праведностї і правдї,)

10

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

10

допевняючись, що єсть угодне Богові.

11

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

11

І не приставайте до неплідних дїл тьми, а лучче ж винуйте їх.

12

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

12

Що бо дїєть ся потай у них, соромно й казати.

13

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

13

Усе ж обвинувачене від сьвітла виявляєть ся; все бо виявлене єсть сьвітло.

14

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

14

Того ж то глаголе: Устань, сонний, і воскресни з мертвих, то й осьвітить тебе Христос.

15

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

15

Гледїть же, як би вам оглядно ходити, не яко немудрі, а яко мудрі,

16

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

16

викуплюючи час, бо днї лихі.

17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

17

Тим-то не бувайте нерозумними, а розумійте, що єсть Божа воля.

18

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

18

І не впивайтесь вином, бо в йому розпуст, а сповняйте себе Духом,

19

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

19

бесїдуючи між собою псальмами, та гимнами, та піснями духовними, сьпіваючи та виграючи в серцях ваших Господеві,

20

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

20

дякуючи всякого часу за все в імя Господа нашого Ісуса Христа Богові і Отцеві,

21

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

21

корючись один одному в страху Божім.

Wives and Husbands

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

22

Жінки, коріть ся своїм чоловікам, як Господеві,

23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

23

тим що чоловік голова жінки, як і Христос голова церкви, і Він спаситель тїла.

24

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

24

А як церква корить ся Христу, так і жінки своїм чоловікам у всьому.

25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

25

Чоловіки, любіть своїх жінок, як і Христос полюбив церкву, і себе видав за неї,

26

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

26

щоб осьвятити її, очистивши купіллю води у слові,

27

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

27

щоб поставити її перед собою славною церквою, що не має скази або пороку або чого такого, а щоб була сьвята і непорочна.

28

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

28

Так мусять чоловіки любити своїх жінок, як свої тїла; хто бо любить свою жінку, себе самого любить.

29

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

29

Нїхто бо ще нїколи тїла свого не зненавидїв, а годує і гріє його, яко ж і Господь церкву;

30

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

30

тим що ми члени тїла Його, від тїла Його і від костей Його.

31

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

31

Того-то покине чоловік батька свого й матїр, і пригорнеть ся до жінки своєї, і будуть удвох одно тїло.

32

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

32

Тайна се велика, я ж глаголю що до Христа і до церкви.

33

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

33

Тим то і ви по одному кожен свою жінку так нехай любить, як і себе, а жінка нехай боїть ся свого чоловіка.
