The Man of Sin

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

1

Благаємо вас, брати, щодо приходу Господа нашого Ісуса Христа — коли ми зберемось до нього:

2

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2

не дайте легко вивести себе з рівноваги, ані щоб вас тривожили харизмом, словом, чи листом, який нібито від нас, — що день Господній уже настає.

3

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

3

Нехай ніхто жадним способом не бентежить вас! Бо спершу настане відступство й виявиться чоловік безбожний, син погибелі,

4

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

той супротивник, який зноситься понад усе, що зветься Богом чи святощами, так що сяде сам у храмі Божім і видаватиме себе за Бога.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

Хіба не пам'ятаєте, що коли я був між вами, я говорив вам про це?

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

6

І тепер знаєте, що саме стримує його з'явитись у часі своєму.

7

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

7

Так, тайна беззаконня орудує вже тепер. Лише тепер є той, хто його стримує, аж поки не буде усунений.

8

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

8

І тоді й з'явиться беззаконний, якого Господь Ісус умертвить духом уст своїх і знищить сяйвом приходу свого.

9

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

Поява бо того буде під діянням сатани з усякого роду силою, із знаками і з неправдивими чудами

10

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

10

та всяким брехливим обманом для тих, які гинуть, бо вони не прийняли любови правди, щоб їм спастися.

11

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

11

І тому Бог посилає їм силу, яка зводить їх вірити неправді, —

12

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

щоб засуджені були всі ті, які не увірували в правду, а милуються з неправедности.

13

Stand Firm

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

13

А щодо нас, то ми за вас, брати, улюблені Господом, повинні завжди дякувати Богові, що Бог вибрав вас від початку, щоб ви спаслися освяченням Духа і вірою в правду,

14

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

14

до чого він вас і покликав благовіствуванням нашим, щоб ви придбали славу Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

15

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

15

Тож стійте, брати, і тримайтеся передань, яких від нас навчилися чи то усно, а чи листовно.

16

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

16

Нехай же сам Господь наш Ісус Христос і Бог, Отець наш, що полюбив нас і дав нам у своїй благодаті втіху вічну й добру надію,

17

Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

17

врадує серця ваші та зміцнить у всякім ділі й добрім слові.
