The Man of Sin

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

1

Благаємо ж, бра́ття, ми вас, щодо прихо́ду Господа нашого Ісуса Христа й нашого згрома́дження до Нього,

2

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2

щоб ви не хвилювалися зараз умом та не жахались ані через духа, ані через слово, ані через листа, що він ніби від нас, — ніби вже настав день Господній.

3

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

3

Хай ніхто жодним способом вас не зведе́! Бо той день не настане, аж перше при́йде відсту́плення, і ви́явиться беззако́нник, призна́чений на погибіль,

4

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

що противиться та несеться над усе, зване Богом чи свя́тощами, так що в Божому храмі він сяде, як Бог, і за Бога себе видаватиме.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

Чи ви не пам'ятаєте, як, ще в вас живши, я це вам говорив?

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

6

І тепер ви знаєте, що́ саме не допускає з'явитись йому своєчасно.

7

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

7

Бо вже діється таємни́ця беззако́ння; тільки Той, Хто трима́є тепер, буде тримати, аж поки не бу́де усу́нений Він із сере́дини.

8

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

8

І тоді то з'явиться той беззаконник, що його Госпо́дь Ісус заб'є Духом уст Своїх і знищить з'я́вленням прихо́ду Свого.

9

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

9

Його прихід — за чином сатани — буде з усякою силою й зна́ками та з неправдивими чу́дами,

10

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

10

і з усякою обманою неправди між тими, хто гине, бо любови правди вони не прийняли́, щоб їм спастися.

11

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

11

І за це Бог пошле їм дію обмани, щоб у неправду повірили,

12

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

щоб стали засу́джені всі, хто не вірив у правду, але полюбив неправедність.

Stand Firm

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

13

А ми за́вжди повинні дякувати Богові за вас, улю́блені Господом бра́ття, що Бог вибрав вас споча́тку на спасі́ння освя́ченням Духа та вірою в правду,

14

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

14

до чого покликав Він вас через нашу Єва́нгелію, щоб отримати славу Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

15

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

15

Отже, бра́ття, стійте й тримайтеся переда́нь, яких ви навчились чи то словом, чи нашим посла́нням.

16

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

16

Сам же Госпо́дь наш Ісус Христос і Бог Отець наш, що нас полюбив і дав у благода́ті вічну потіху та добру надію, —

17

Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

17

нехай ваші серця Він поті́шить, і нехай Він зміцнить вас у всякому доброму ділі та в слові!
