Obedience to Authorities

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

щоб нікого не ганьбили, були мирні, поступливі та виявляли повну лагідність супроти всіх людей.

God's Mercy to Us

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Ми теж були колись безглузді, непокірні, збаламучені, служили пристрастям та розкошам прерізним, живучи у злобі й заздрощах, огидні, взаємно ненависні.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Та коли з'явилась доброта й любов до людей Спаса нашого Бога,

5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

він спас нас не ради діл справедливости, які ми були зробили, але з свого милосердя, купіллю відродження і відновленням Святого Духа,

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

якого вилив на нас щедро через Ісуса Христа, нашого Спаса,

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

щоб ми, оправдані його благодаттю, стали згідно з надією спадкоємцями життя вічного.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Вірне слово! І я хочу, щоб ти його запевняв, аби ті, які увірували в Бога, намагалися бути першими в добрих ділах. Це добре й корисне людям.

Avoiding Divisions

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

А безглуздих питань, родоводів, спорів та суперечок про закон уникай, бо вони безкорисні й марні.

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Єретика чоловіка по першім і другім попередженні цурайся,

Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

знаючи, що такий ось збився на манівці і грішить, ще й осуджує себе самого.

Final Remarks and Greetings

When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

Коли пришлю до тебе Артема або Тихика, чимскоріше приходь до мене в Нікопіль, бо я вирішив там перезимувати.

Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

Зину законника й Аполлоса випровадь дбайливо, щоб їм нічого не бракувало.

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

Наші також; нехай навчаться бути першими в добрих ділах для конечних потреб, щоб не були безплідні.

All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
