Run with Perseverance

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Тому й ми, маючи довкола себе таку велику хмару свідків, відкиньмо всяку гордість та гріх, що нас легко обплутує, з терпінням прямуймо до тієї боротьби, яка перед нами,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

дивлячись на Проводиря і Вершителя віри, на Ісуса, Який, незважаючи на сором, замість належної Йому радості перетерпів хрест і сів праворуч Божого престолу.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Подумайте ж про Того, Хто від грішників перетерпів таку наругу над Собою, щоб ви не знемоглися та не ослабли вашими душами.

God Disciplines His Sons

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Ви ще не боролися до крові, воюючи з гріхом.

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

І забули про заклик, що звернений до вас як до синів: Сину мій, не нехтуй Господніми картаннями і не падай духом, коли Він докоряє.

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Адже кого Господь любить, того й карає, і б’є кожного сина, якого приймає.

7

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Якщо зазнаєте докору, то з вами Бог поводиться, як із синами. Хіба є такий син, якого батько не картає?

8

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Якщо ж ви залишаєтеся без картання, якого зазнавали всі, тоді ви незаконні діти, а не сини.

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

До того ж ми мали наших тілесних батьків, які карали, і ми соромилися, то чи не значно більше повинні коритися Отцеві духів, аби жити?

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Усяке ж покарання в даний час не здається радістю, але смутком; та згодом ті, які навчені ним, приносять мирний плід праведності.

12

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

Тому випростайте опущені руки і знеможені коліна,

And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

і стежки для ваших ніг зробіть прямими, аби кульгаве не збочило, але радше щоб виправилося.

A Call to Holiness

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Майте мир з усіма і святість, без яких ніхто не побачить Господа.

15

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

15

Пильнуйте, щоб ніхто не був позбавлений Божої благодаті, аби хто не наробив прикрощів, коли випустить гіркий корінь, та щоб ним багато хто не опоганився;

16

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

аби не був хто блудником або нечестивим, як Ісав, який за одну страву віддав своє первородство.

17

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Тож знайте, що й тоді, коли він забажав успадкувати благословення, — був відкинутий, хоча зі слізьми його шукав, бо не знайшов можливості покаятися.

Our Kingdom Cannot Be Shaken

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

Адже ви приступили не [до гори], до котрої можна доторкнутися, ні до палаючого вогню, і хмари, і темряви, і бурі,

19

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

19

і звука сурми, і голосу мови; його почувши, вони просили, аби більше не звучало до них слово,

20

(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

20

тому що не могли знести наказу: Коли б і тварина доторкнулася до гори, то нехай буде побита камінням!

21

And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

І таким страшним було те видовище, що Мойсей сказав: Я наляканий і тремчу.

22

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

22

Але ви приступили до гори Сіон, до міста Живого Бога, до небесного Єрусалима, до десятків тисяч ангелів, до торжества,

23

To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

до Церкви первістків, записаних на небі, до Бога — Судді всіх, до духів праведників, які досягли досконалості,

24

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Пильнуйте, аби не відректися Того, Хто говорить. Якщо ті, котрі зреклися того, хто пророкував на землі, не уникнули кари, то тим більше ми, коли зрікаємося Того, Хто з неба,

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

і голос Якого тоді захитав землею, і Який тепер обіцяв, кажучи: Ще раз Я захитаю не тільки землею, але й небом.

27

And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Оце «ще раз» означає заміну того, що хитається, як такого, що створене, аби залишилося непохитним.

28

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Тому, одержуючи непохитне Царство, маємо благодать, якою служимо до вподоби Богові з побожністю і страхом.

For our God is a consuming fire.
