Jesus Our Apostle and High Priest

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

1

Тому, святі брати, учасники небесного покликання, роздумуйте про Апостола й Первосвященика нашого віровизнання — Ісуса,

Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

Який вірний Тому, Хто поставив Його, як і Мойсей, у всьому Його домі.

3

For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

Тому що Він настільки гідний більшої слави, ніж Мойсей, наскільки більшу честь має будівничий, ніж дім.

4

For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

4

Адже кожний дім хтось будує, а Той, Хто збудував усе, є Бог.

5

And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Отже, Мойсей був вірний у всьому його домі, як слуга — для засвідчення того, що мало бути сказане,

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

а Христос — як Син у Своєму домі. Цим домом є ми, якщо [аж до кінця непохитно] збережемо відвагу та похвалу надії.

Do Not Harden Your Hearts

Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Тому так промовляє Святий Дух: Сьогодні, коли почуєте Його голос,

Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

8

не робіть закам’янілими ваші серця, як ото було під час нарікання в день випробування в пустелі,

9

When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

де [Мене] спокушували ваші батьки, випробовували [Мене] й бачили Мої вчинки

10

Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

впродовж сорока років. Тому Я обурився на цей рід і сказав: Постійно вони блукають серцем, вони не пізнали Моїх доріг, —

So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

тому Я поклявся у Своєму гніві, що вони не ввійдуть до Мого відпочинку!

The Dangers of Unbelief

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

12

Бережіться, брати, щоби часом не було в когось з вас лукаве серце, повне невірства, щоб відступити від Живого Бога,

13

But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

13

але потішайте себе щодня, доки ще «сьогодні» триває, щоб не закам’янів дехто з вас через підступність гріха.

14

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Тому що ми стали співучасниками Христа, якщо цей початковий стан твердо збережемо аж до кінця,

15

While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

15

як сказано: Сьогодні, коли почуєте Його голос, не зробіть закам’янілими ваші серця, як було під час нарікання.

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

Адже хто ті, які почули, але повстали? Хіба не всі ті, котрі вийшли з Єгипту з Мойсеєм?

17

But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

На кого ж Він був обурений сорок років? Чи не на тих, які згрішили й чиї кості полягли в пустелі?

18

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

18

Кому присягав, що не ввійдуть до Його відпочинку, як не тим, хто не послухався?

19

So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

19

І ми бачимо, що вони не змогли ввійти через своє невірство!
