And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.

And David answered the priest, “Truly women have been kept from us as always when I go on an expedition. The vessels of the young men are holy even when it is an ordinary journey. How much more today will their vessels be holy?” -

David answered the priest and said to him, “Surely women have been kept from us as previously when I set out and the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then today will their vessels be holy?” -
“Don’t worry,” David replied. “I never allow my men to be with women when we are on a campaign. And since they stay clean even on ordinary trips, how much more on this one!”

And David answered the priest and said to him, Yes indeed, women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the [bread] is in a manner common, and the more so, because to-day [new] is hallowed in the vessels. -
И отвечал Давид священнику и сказал ему: женщин при нас не было ни вчера, ни третьего дня, со времени, как я вышел, и сосуды отроков чисты, а если дорога нечиста, то хлеб останется чистым в сосудах.

Священик відрік Давидові: «Хліба звичайного нема в мене під рукою, е тільки хліб священний, — якщо тільки ці люди стрималися від жінки?»

І відказав Давид сьвященникові та й каже: Від жінок ми вчера і три днї тому, від коли вийшли, здержались, і посуди* слуг твоїх чисті, а хоч дорога нечиста, то хлїб останеться чистим в посудинах. -
А священик відповів Давидові та й сказав: „Нема в мене звича́йного хліба під рукою, а є тільки хліб святий, якщо твої́ слуги зде́ржалися від жінки“.

Давид ответил:
— Поистине, женщин при нас не было — как обычно, когда я отправляюсь с поручением. Вещи93 моих людей чисты, даже когда мы спешим по обычным поручениям. Насколько же чище они должны быть сегодня! -
У відповідь священик сказав Давидові: У мене немає звичайних хлібів в руках, бо є тільки святі хліби. Якщо слуги остерігалися жінки, то можуть їсти!
