And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

So David said to Abner, “Are you not a man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not guarded your lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy your lord the king.

И сказал Давид Авениру: не муж ли ты, и кто равен тебе в Израиле? Для чего же ты не бережёшь господина твоего, царя? ибо приходил некто из народа, чтобы погубить царя, господина твоего.

Давид так до Авнера: «Чи ти ж не муж? Хто тобі рівний в Ізраїлі? Чому ж ти не стеріг твого пана — царя? Он хтось із людей пробрався, щоб убити царя, твого пана.

І озветься Давид: Ти ж такий чоловік, що нема тобі й рівнї в Ізраїлї; чом же ти не стережеш твого пана, царя? бо се хтось з людей пробрався був, щоб убити пана твого, царя. -
І сказав Давид до Авнера: „Чи ти не муж? І хто рівний тобі в Ізраїлі? І чому не пильнував ти свого пана, царя? Бо прихо́див один із народу, щоб погубити царя, твого пана.

Давид сказал:
— Ведь ты мужчина? Кто в Израиле подобен тебе? Почему же ты не охранял твоего господина царя? Некто из народа приходил, чтобы погубить твоего господина царя. -
І промовив Давид до Авенира: Хіба ти не муж, і хто такий, як ти в Ізраїлі? Тож навіщо не стережеш твого володаря-царя? Бо ввійшов один з народу, щоб убити твого володаря-царя.
