He spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose forty are found there?” And He said, “I will not do it on account of the forty.”

And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.

And he spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose there should be forty found there?”
So He said, “I will not do it for the sake of forty.” -

He said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.” -

Then Abraham pressed his request further. “Suppose there are only forty?”
And the LORD replied, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the forty.” -

Авраам продолжал говорить с Ним и сказал: может быть, найдётся там сорок? Он сказал: не сделаю того и ради сорока.

І знову заговорив він до Господа, кажучи: "А може їх там знайдеться сорок?" І відрік: "Не зроблю того заради тих сорока."

І промовив до Нього він ще, та й сказав: „Може сорок там зна́йдеться?“ А Господь відказав: „Не зроблю́ й ради сорока́!“

Авраам обратился к Нему еще раз:
— Что, если там найдутся лишь сорок?
Он ответил:
— Ради сорока Я не сделаю этого. -
Авраам продовжував промовляти до Нього і сказав: А якщо знайдуться там сорок? Той відповів: Не знищу задля сорока.
