Cain and Abel
Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of the LORD.”

Адам познал свою жену Еву, и она родила ребёнка, которого назвали Каином. "С помощью Господа я сотворила мужчину", — сказала Ева.
Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
После этого она родила ещё одного ребёнка, брата Каина, Авеля. Авель стал пастухом, а Каин земледельцем.
So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground.
Когда пришло время жатвы, Каин принёс в дар Господу выращенные им плоды земли,
Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering;
Авель же принес в дар животных из своего стада, самые лучшие части своей самой лучшей овцы. Господь принял дар Авеля,
but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.
а подношение Каина не принял. Каин был этим очень опечален и рассержен.
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?
Господь спросил Каина: "Почему ты сердишься? Почему у тебя печальное лицо?
“If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
Если будешь делать добро, то будешь праведен передо Мной, и Я приму тебя. Но если будешь делать зло, то твоя жизнь будет греховна. И тогда твой грех захочет править тобой, ты же должен сам править грехом".
Cain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
Каин сказал своему брату Авелю: "Пойдём в поле". Каин с Авелем пошли в поле, и там Каин напал на своего брата Авеля и убил его.
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
Некоторое время спустя Господь спросил Каина: "Где твой брат Авель?" Каин ответил: "Не знаю. Разве я сторож моему брату?"
He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground.
"Что же ты сделал? — сказал тогда Господь. — Кровь твоего брата, словно голос, взывает ко Мне из земли.
“Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
Земля разверзлась и поглотила кровь твоего брата с рук твоих. И теперь Я проклинаю тебя и эту землю.
“When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you; you will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.”
Когда будешь возделывать землю, она не будет помогать твоим растениям расти, как это было раньше. У тебя не будет на земле дома, и ты будешь скитаться с места на место".
Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is too great to bear!
Каин ответил Господу: "Перенести такое наказание свыше моих сил!
“Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
Ты изгоняешь меня с моей земли, и я не смогу больше видеть Тебя и быть рядом с Тобой! У меня не будет дома, мне придётся скитаться с места на место, и всякий, кто меня найдёт, убьёт меня!"
So the LORD said to him, “Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one finding him would slay him.
"Если кто-нибудь убьёт тебя, Каин, — ответил ему Господь, — Я накажу того во много раз хуже". Он пометил Каина, и эта мета указывала, что никто не смеет убить его.
Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
Каин ушёл от Господа и поселился в земле Нод, на востоке от Эдема.
Cain had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son.
Он познал свою жену, и она родила сына, которого назвали Енохом. Каин построил город и назвал его Енох, по имени своего сына.
Now to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad became the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael became the father of Methushael, and Methushael became the father of Lamech.
У Еноха был сын Ирод, у Ирода был сын Мехиаель, у Михиаеля был сын Мафусал, у Мафусала был сын Ламех.
Lamech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah.
Ламех взял в жены двух женщин, одну жену звали Ада, другую Цилла.
Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
Ада родила Иавала, он стал отцом живущих в шатрах и добывающих пропитание скотоводством.
His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.
У Ады был ещё один сын, Иувал, брат Иавала, он стал отцом играющих на арфе и флейте.
As for Zillah, she also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of all implements of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
Цилла родила Тувала-Каина, отца кующих орудия из железа и бронзы. У него была сестра по имени Ноема.
Lamech said to his wives,
“Adah and Zillah,
Listen to my voice,
You wives of Lamech,
Give heed to my speech,
For I have killed a man for wounding me;
And a boy for striking me;
“Adah and Zillah,
Listen to my voice,
You wives of Lamech,
Give heed to my speech,
For I have killed a man for wounding me;
And a boy for striking me;
Ламех сказал своим жёнам: "Услышьте мой голос, Ада и Цилла! Слушайте, жены Ламеха! Человек задел меня, и я убил его! Ребёнок ударил меня, и я убил его!
If Cain is avenged sevenfold,
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
Наказание за убийство Каина было великое, но наказание за моё убийство будет во много раз хуже!"
Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, she said, “God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel, for Cain killed him.”
Адам познал Еву, и она родила ещё одного сына. Они назвали его Сифом. "Бог послал мне ещё одного сына. Каин убил Авеля, теперь же у меня есть Сиф", — сказала Ева.
