Amnon and Tamar
Now it was after this that Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister whose name was Tamar, and Amnon the son of David loved her.

Amnon was so frustrated because of his sister Tamar that he made himself ill, for she was a virgin, and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.
Амнон довёл себя до болезни, думая о Фамари, так как Фамарь была девственница, и Амнон считал невозможным что-либо сделать с ней.
But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother; and Jonadab was a very shrewd man.
У Амнона был друг, по имени Ионадав, сын Самая (Самай был братом Давида). Ионадав был очень умным человеком.
He said to him, “O son of the king, why are you so depressed morning after morning? Will you not tell me?” Then Amnon said to him, “I am in love with Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.”
Он сказал Амнону: "Почему ты худеешь с каждым днём? Ты же царский сын! У тебя вдоволь еды, а ты худеешь. Скажи мне!" И Амнон сказал ему: "Я люблю Фамарь, сестру моего сводного брата Авессалома".
Jonadab then said to him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill; when your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me some food to eat, and let her prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat from her hand.’”
Ионадав сказал ему: "Ложись в постель и притворись больным. И когда отец твой придёт навестить тебя, скажи ему: "Пусть придёт Фамарь, сестра моя, и накормит меня. Пусть она приготовит еду у меня на глазах. Я увижу это и поем из её рук"".
So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill; when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.”
Амнон лёг и притворился больным. Когда царь пришёл навестить его, Амнон сказал ему: "Пожалуйста, пусть придёт сестра моя, Фамарь, и испечёт для меня пару лепёшек, и я поем из её рук".
Then David sent to the house for Tamar, saying, “Go now to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.”
И послал Давид к Фамари домой сказать: "Пойди в дом Амнона, брата твоего, и приготовь ему еду".
So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house, and he was lying down. And she took dough, kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
И пошла Фамарь в дом своего брата Амнона. Амнон лежал в постели. Фамарь взяла немного муки, замесила её, слепила лепёшки на глазах у Амнона и испекла их.
She took the pan and dished them out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, “Have everyone go out from me.” So everyone went out from him.
Затем она сняла со сковороды лепёшки и подала их Амнону. Но он отказался есть. Он сказал: "Пусть все выйдут отсюда!" И все слуги вышли из комнаты.
Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, that I may eat from your hand.” So Tamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them into the bedroom to her brother Amnon.
Тогда Амнон сказал Фамари: "Отнеси еду в мою спальню, и я поем из твоих рук". Фамарь отнесла еду, которую приготовила для брата, к нему в спальню.
When she brought them to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.”

But she answered him, “No, my brother, do not violate me, for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this disgraceful thing!
Но она сказала: "Нет, брат мой! Не заставляй меня! Такие ужасные вещи не должны происходить в Израиле! Не делай этого бесстыдства!
“As for me, where could I get rid of my reproach? And as for you, you will be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.”
А я, как смогу я избавиться от своего бесчестия? И тебя люди будут считать одним из безумных в Израиле. Пожалуйста, поговори с царём. Он разрешит тебе жениться на мне".
However, he would not listen to her; since he was stronger than she, he violated her and lay with her.
Но он не хотел слушать её, и так как был сильнее, одолел её и изнасиловал.
Then Amnon hated her with a very great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, “Get up, go away!”
Потом Амнон возненавидел её. Он возненавидел её так, что ненависть его к ней была сильнее, чем любовь, которая была у него к ней раньше. И сказал ей Амнон: "Встань и уйди отсюда!"
But she said to him, “No, because this wrong in sending me away is greater than the other that you have done to me!” Yet he would not listen to her.
Фамарь сказала ему: "Нет! Не прогоняй меня. Это зло будет ещё больше, чем то, которое ты уже причинил мне!" Но Амнон не хотел её слушать.
Then he called his young man who attended him and said, “Now throw this woman out of my presence, and lock the door behind her.”

Now she had on a long-sleeved garment; for in this manner the virgin daughters of the king dressed themselves in robes. Then his attendant took her out and locked the door behind her.
И слуга вывел её и запер за ней дверь. Фамарь была одета в длинную разноцветную одежду. Такую одежду носили царские дочери-девственницы.
Tamar put ashes on her head and tore her long-sleeved garment which was on her; and she put her hand on her head and went away, crying aloud as she went.
Фамарь посыпала свою голову пеплом и разодрала свою разноцветную одежду. Затем она обхватила голову руками и пошла, громко рыдая.
Then Absalom her brother said to her, “Has Amnon your brother been with you? But now keep silent, my sister, he is your brother; do not take this matter to heart.” So Tamar remained and was desolate in her brother Absalom’s house.
И сказал ей брат её Авессалом: "Не брат ли твой Амнон был с тобой? Успокойся, сестра моя. Он — твой брат. Не принимай это близко к сердцу". И жила Фамарь, обесчещенная женщина, в доме своего брата Авессалома.
Now when King David heard of all these matters, he was very angry.
Когда царь Давид услышал обо всём этом, он сильно разгневался.
But Absalom did not speak to Amnon either good or bad; for Absalom hated Amnon because he had violated his sister Tamar.
Авессалом же не сказал Амнону ни одного слова, ни хорошего, ни плохого, но возненавидел Амнона за то, что тот обесчестил его сестру Фамарь.
Now it came about after two full years that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim, and Absalom invited all the king’s sons.
Через два года Авессалом стриг овец в Ваал-Гацоре. И Авессалом пригласил туда всех царских сыновей.
Absalom Avenges Tamar
Absalom came to the king and said, “Behold now, your servant has sheepshearers; please let the king and his servants go with your servant.”
Авессалом пришёл к царю и сказал: "Ко мне пришли люди стричь овец. Пожалуйста, пусть царь и слуги его присоединятся ко мне".
But the king said to Absalom, “No, my son, we should not all go, for we will be burdensome to you.” Although he urged him, he would not go, but blessed him.
Но царь Давид сказал Авессалому: "Нет, сын мой. Мы не пойдём все. Мы только будем тебе обузой". Авессалом сильно упрашивал его, но царь, благословив сына, отказался идти.
Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” And the king said to him, “Why should he go with you?”
Тогда Авессалом сказал ему: "Если ты не хочешь, то позволь брату моему Амнону пойти с нами". Царь спросил его: "Зачем ему идти с тобой?"
But when Absalom urged him, he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.
Но Авессалом продолжал упрашивать его, и Давид отпустил с ним Амнона и всех остальных царских сыновей.
Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “See now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then put him to death. Do not fear; have not I myself commanded you? Be courageous and be valiant.”
Тогда Авессалом приказал своим слугам: "Смотрите за Амноном. Когда он развеселится от выпитого вина, и я скажу вам: "Поразите Амнона!", — тогда убейте его. Не бойтесь. Это я приказываю вам, а вы только исполняете моё приказание. Будьте смелы и мужественны".
The servants of Absalom did to Amnon just as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose and each mounted his mule and fled.
И слуги Авессалома сделали так, как он им приказал. Они убили Амнона, а все другие царские сыновья сели каждый на своего мула и убежали.
Now it was while they were on the way that the report came to David, saying, “Absalom has struck down all the king’s sons, and not one of them is left.”
Пока царские сыновья были ещё в пути, до Давида дошёл слух, что Авессалом убил всех царских сыновей, и не осталось ни одного из них.
Then the king arose, tore his clothes and lay on the ground; and all his servants were standing by with clothes torn.
И встал царь, разодрал на себе одежды и лёг на землю. И все слуги, стоявшие возле него, тоже разодрали свои одежды.
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, responded, “Do not let my lord suppose they have put to death all the young men, the king’s sons, for Amnon alone is dead; because by the intent of Absalom this has been determined since the day that he violated his sister Tamar.
Но Ионадав, сын Самая, брата Давида, сказал: "Пусть не думает господин мой, что убиты все царские сыновья! Убит только Амнон. Авессалом собирался сделать это с того дня, когда Амнон изнасиловал сестру его Фамарь.
“Now therefore, do not let my lord the king take the report to heart, namely, ‘all the king’s sons are dead,’ for only Amnon is dead.”
Господин мой, не думай, что все сыновья царские убиты. Убит один только Амнон".
Now Absalom had fled. And the young man who was the watchman raised his eyes and looked, and behold, many people were coming from the road behind him by the side of the mountain.
Между тем, Авессалом сбежал. Человек, стоявший на страже у городской стены, увидел на дороге много людей, спускавшихся по склону горы.
Jonadab said to the king, “Behold, the king’s sons have come; according to your servant’s word, so it happened.”
Тогда Ионадав сказал царю: "Смотри, я был прав! Это идут царские сыновья".
As soon as he had finished speaking, behold, the king’s sons came and lifted their voices and wept; and also the king and all his servants wept very bitterly.
И как только он это сказал, пришли царские сыновья, громко плача. И сам царь и все слуги его громко рыдали.
Now Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
Царь Давид оплакивал сына своего каждый день. Авессалом же сбежал и пошёл к Фалмаю, сыну Емиуда, царю Гессурскому.
So Absalom had fled and gone to Geshur, and was there three years.
Авессалом убежал, пришёл в Гессур и пробыл там три года.
