They were equipped with bows, using both the right hand and the left to sling stones and to shoot arrows from the bow; they were Saul’s kinsmen from Benjamin.

The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth, and Beracah and Jehu the Anathothite,

From the Gadites there came over to David in the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear, and whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the gazelles on the mountains.

These are the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing all its banks and they put to flight all those in the valleys, both to the east and to the west.

Then some of the sons of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.
І прийшли з синів Веніяминових та Юдиних аж до твердині до Давида.
David went out to meet them, and said to them, “If you come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on it and decide.”
А Давид вийшов перед них, і, відповіда́ючи, сказав їм: „Якщо ви прийшли до мене з миром, щоб допомагати мені, буде моє серце з вами за одне, а якщо зрадите мене супроти ворогів моїх, коли нема обмани в руках моїх, то побачить це Бог наших батьків, і покарає!“
Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was the chief of the thirty, and he said,
“We are yours, O David,
And with you, O son of Jesse!
Peace, peace to you,
And peace to him who helps you;
Indeed, your God helps you!”
Then David received them and made them captains of the band.
“We are yours, O David,
And with you, O son of Jesse!

And peace to him who helps you;
Indeed, your God helps you!”

І зійшов Дух на Амасая, голову тридцяти, і він проказав: „Мир, Давиде, тобі, і з тобою, о сину Єссе́їв! Мир тобі, і мир то́му, хто тобі помагає, бо тобі помагає твій Бог!“ І прийняв їх Давид, і поставив на чолі́ війська.
From Manasseh also some defected to David when he was about to go to battle with the Philistines against Saul. But they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines after consultation sent him away, saying, “At the cost of our heads he may defect to his master Saul.”
І з Манасії перебігли до Давида, коли він ішов із филисти́млянами проти Саула на війну, — а він не поміг їм, бо филистимські князі́, порадившись, відіслали його, говорячи: „За ціну наших голів він хоче перейти до свого пана Саула!“
As he went to Ziklag there defected to him from Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu and Zillethai, captains of thousands who belonged to Manasseh.
Коли він ішов до Ціклаґу, збігли до нього з Манасії: Аднах, і Йозавад, і Єдіаїл, і Михаїл, і Йозавад, і Елігу, і Ціллетай, — го́лови Манасіїних тисячок.
They helped David against the band of raiders, for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the army.

For day by day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army like the army of God.
Бо день-у-день прихо́дили вони до Давида помагати йому, аж став та́бір великий, як та́бір Божий.
Supporters Gathered at Hebron
Now these are the numbers of the divisions equipped for war, who came to David at Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
А оце число головни́х озбро́єних військо́вих відділів, — вони прийшли до Давида в Хевро́н, щоб передати Саулове царство йому, за Господнім словом:
The sons of Judah who bore shield and spear were 6,800, equipped for war.
Юдиних синів, що носили великого щита́ та списа́, — шість тисяч і вісім сотень озбро́єного ві́йська.
Of the sons of Simeon, mighty men of valor for war, 7,100.
З Симеонових синів хоробрих воякі́в військово́го відділу — сім тисяч і сто.
Now Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron, and with him were 3,700,
І Єгояда, проводи́р синів Ааронових, а з ним три тисячі й сім сотень.
also Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father’s house twenty-two captains.
І юна́к Садо́к, хоробрий воя́к, та дім його батька, — зверхників двадцять і два.
Of the sons of Benjamin, Saul’s kinsmen, 3,000; for until now the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.
А з Веніяминових синів, Саулових братів, — три тисячі, а більша частина їх аж дотепе́р трималися Саулового дому.
Of the sons of Ephraim 20,800, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers’ households.
А з Єфремових синів — двадцять тисяч і вісім сотень хоробрих воякі́в, мужів славних дому їхніх батьків.
Of the half-tribe of Manasseh 18,000, who were designated by name to come and make David king.
А з половини Манасіїного племени — вісімнадцять тисяч, що були́ докладно зазна́чені за і́менем, щоб прийти настанови́ти Давида царем.
Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.
А з Іссаха́рових синів, що мали розумі́ння ча́су, щоб знати, що́ буде робити Ізра́їль, їх голів було двісті, а всі їхні брати́ робили за їхнім нака́зом.
Of Zebulun, there were 50,000 who went out in the army, who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David with an undivided heart.
Із Завулона тих, що виходять на війну, що ставляться в бойово́му поря́дку зо всякими військо́вими речами, — п'ятдесят тисяч, щоб допомагати з ці́лим серцем.
Of Naphtali there were 1,000 captains, and with them 37,000 with shield and spear.
А з Нефтали́му — тисяча зверхників, а при них зо щито́м та списо́м — тридцять і сім тисяч.
Of the Danites who could draw up in battle formation, there were 28,600.
А з Данян тих, що ставляться в бойово́му поря́дку — двадцять і вісім тисяч і шість сотень.
Of Asher there were 40,000 who went out in the army to draw up in battle formation.
А з Аси́ра тих, що виходять на війну, щоб ставитися в бойові́м поря́дку, — сорок тисяч.
From the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites and the Gadites and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 with all kinds of weapons of war for the battle.
А з того бо́ку Йорда́ну з Руви́мівців, і Ґа́дівців, і з полови́ни Манасі́ї, зо всякими військо́вими знаря́ддями для бою — сто й двадцять тисяч.
All these, being men of war who could draw up in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king.
Усі ці люди — військо́ві, що ставилися в бойово́му поря́дку, ці́лим серцем поприхо́дили до Хевро́ну, щоб настанови́ти Давида царем над усім Ізра́їлем. Та й решта Ізраїля були односе́рді, щоб настанови́ти Давида царем.
They were there with David three days, eating and drinking, for their kinsmen had prepared for them.
І були́ вони там із Давидом три дні, їли та пили, бо їхні брати́ нагото́вили їм.
Moreover those who were near to them, even as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought food on donkeys, camels, mules and on oxen, great quantities of flour cakes, fig cakes and bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen and sheep. There was joy indeed in Israel.
А також ті, що були близькі́ до них, аж до Іссаха́ра, і Завуло́на, і Нефтали́ма, спрова́джували хліб ослами, і верблю́дами, і му́лами, і худобою великою, їжу мучну́, спресо́вані фіґі, і родзи́нки, і вино, і оливу, і худобу велику, і худобу дрібну́, дуже багато, бо радість була в Ізраїлі.
