New American Standard Bible

New Living Translation

  • I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
  • A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. A psalm of David.

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
  • Our feet are standing
    Within your gates, O Jerusalem,
  • And now here we are,
standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.
  • Jerusalem, that is built
    As a city that is compact together;
  • Jerusalem is a well-built city;
its seamless walls cannot be breached.
  • To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD —
    An ordinance for Israel —
To give thanks to the name of the LORD.
  • All the tribes of Israel — the LORD’s people —
    make their pilgrimage here.
They come to give thanks to the name of the LORD,
as the law requires of Israel.
  • For there thrones were set for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
  • Here stand the thrones where judgment is given,
the thrones of the dynasty of David.
  • Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
  • Pray for peace in Jerusalem.
May all who love this city prosper.
  • “May peace be within your walls,
    And prosperity within your palaces.”
  • O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls
    and prosperity in your palaces.
  • For the sake of my brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “May peace be within you.”
  • For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
    “May you have peace.”
  • For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
    I will seek your good.
  • For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
