New American Standard Bible

New King James Version

  • We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks,
    For Your name is near;
    Men declare Your wondrous works.
  • Thanksgiving for God’s Righteous Judgment

    To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do[a] Not Destroy.” A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

    We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks!
    For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.
  • “When I select an appointed time,
    It is I who judge with equity.
  • “When I choose the [b]proper time,
    I will judge uprightly.
  • “The earth and all who dwell in it melt;
    It is I who have firmly set its pillars.
    Selah.
    “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
    And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn;
    Do not lift up your horn on high,
    Do not speak with insolent pride.’”
    For not from the east, nor from the west,
    Nor from the desert comes exaltation;
    But God is the Judge;
    He puts down one and exalts another.
    For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine foams;
    It is well mixed, and He pours out of this;
    Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs.
    But as for me, I will declare it forever;
    I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
    And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off,
    But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.
  • The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved;
    I set up its pillars firmly. Selah
  • “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
    And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn;
  • “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’
    And to the wicked, ‘Do not [c]lift up the horn.
  • Do not lift up your horn on high,
    Do not speak with insolent pride.’”
  • Do not lift up your horn on high;
    Do not speak with [d]a stiff neck.’ ”
  • For not from the east, nor from the west,
    Nor from the desert comes exaltation;
  • For exaltation comes neither from the east
    Nor from the west nor from the south.
  • But God is the Judge;
    He puts down one and exalts another.
  • But God is the Judge:
    He puts down one,
    And exalts another.
  • For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine foams;
    It is well mixed, and He pours out of this;
    Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs.
  • For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup,
    And the wine is red;
    It is fully mixed, and He pours it out;
    Surely its dregs shall all the wicked of the earth
    Drain and drink down.
  • But as for me, I will declare it forever;
    I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
  • But I will declare forever,
    I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
  • And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off,
    But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.
  • “All the [e]horns of the wicked I will also cut off,
    But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
