New American Standard Bible

English Standard Version

  • Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
  • From Everlasting to Everlasting

    A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.

    Lord, you have been our dwelling placea
    in all generations.
  • Before the mountains were born
    Or You gave birth to the earth and the world,
    Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
  • Before the mountains were brought forth,
    or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
  • You turn man back into dust
    And say, “Return, O children of men.”
  • You return man to dust
    and say, “Return, O children of man!”b
  • For a thousand years in Your sight
    Are like yesterday when it passes by,
    Or as a watch in the night.
  • For a thousand years in your sight
    are but as yesterday when it is past,
    or as a watch in the night.
  • You have swept them away like a flood, they fall asleep;
    In the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew.
  • You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream,
    like grass that is renewed in the morning:
  • In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew;
    Toward evening it fades and withers away.
  • in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
    in the evening it fades and withers.
  • For we have been consumed by Your anger
    And by Your wrath we have been dismayed.
  • For we are brought to an end by your anger;
    by your wrath we are dismayed.
  • You have placed our iniquities before You,
    Our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
  • You have set our iniquities before you,
    our secret sins in the light of your presence.
  • For all our days have declined in Your fury;
    We have finished our years like a sigh.
  • For all our days pass away under your wrath;
    we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
  • As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,
    Or if due to strength, eighty years,
    Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow;
    For soon it is gone and we fly away.
  • The years of our life are seventy,
    or even by reason of strength eighty;
    yet their spanc is but toil and trouble;
    they are soon gone, and we fly away.
  • Who understands the power of Your anger
    And Your fury, according to the fear that is due You?
  • Who considers the power of your anger,
    and your wrath according to the fear of you?
  • So teach us to number our days,
    That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
  • So teach us to number our days
    that we may get a heart of wisdom.
  • Do return, O LORD; how long will it be?
    And be sorry for Your servants.
  • Return, O Lord! How long?
    Have pity on your servants!
  • O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
    That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
  • Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
    that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
  • Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us,
    And the years we have seen evil.
  • Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    and for as many years as we have seen evil.
  • Let Your work appear to Your servants
    And Your majesty to their children.
  • Let your work be shown to your servants,
    and your glorious power to their children.
  • Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
    And confirm for us the work of our hands;
    Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
  • Let the favord of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!
