    “Moreover, you shall make an altar as a place for burning incense; you shall make it of acacia wood.

  • “You shall not offer any strange incense on this altar, or burnt offering or meal offering; and you shall not pour out a drink offering on it.
  • You shall not offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering, and you shall not pour a drink offering on it.
  • “Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year; he shall make atonement on it with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once a year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD.”

  • The LORD also spoke to Moses, saying,
  • The Census Tax

    The Lord said to Moses,
  • “When you take a census of the sons of Israel to number them, then each one of them shall give a ransom for himself to the LORD, when you number them, so that there will be no plague among them when you number them.
  • “When you take the census of the people of Israel, then each shall give a ransom for his life to the Lord when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them.
  • “This is what everyone who is numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as a contribution to the LORD.
  • Each one who is numbered in the census shall give this: half a shekelb according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs),c half a shekel as an offering to the Lord.
  • “Everyone who is numbered, from twenty years old and over, shall give the contribution to the LORD.
  • Everyone who is numbered in the census, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the Lord’s offering.
  • “The rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than the half shekel, when you give the contribution to the LORD to make atonement for yourselves.
  • The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when you give the Lord’s offering to make atonement for your lives.
  • “You shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.”
  • You shall take the atonement money from the people of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may bring the people of Israel to remembrance before the Lord, so as to make atonement for your lives.”
  • The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
  • The Bronze Basin

    The Lord said to Moses,
  • “You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base of bronze, for washing; and you shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it.
  • “You shall also make a basin of bronze, with its stand of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it,
  • “Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet from it;
  • with which Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet.
  • when they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they will not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to the LORD.
  • When they go into the tent of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn a food offeringd to the Lord, they shall wash with water, so that they may not die.
  • “So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they will not die; and it shall be a perpetual statute for them, for Aaron and his descendants throughout their generations.”

  • The Anointing Oil

    Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
  • The Anointing Oil and Incense

    The Lord said to Moses,
  • “Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty,
  • “Take the finest spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, that is, 250, and 250 of aromatic cane,
  • and of cassia five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin.
  • and 500 of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hine of olive oil.
  • “You shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.
  • And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.
  • “With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony,

  • and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense,

  • ‘It shall not be poured on anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in the same proportions; it is holy, and it shall be holy to you.
  • It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.
  • ‘Whoever shall mix any like it or whoever puts any of it on a layman shall be cut off from his people.’”
  • Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.’”

  • The Incense

    Then the LORD said to Moses, “Take for yourself spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, spices with pure frankincense; there shall be an equal part of each.
  • The Lord said to Moses, “Take sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense (of each shall there be an equal part),
  • “With it you shall make incense, a perfume, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.
  • and make an incense blended as by the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure and holy.
  • “You shall beat some of it very fine, and put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting where I will meet with you; it shall be most holy to you.

  • “The incense which you shall make, you shall not make in the same proportions for yourselves; it shall be holy to you for the LORD.

  • “Whoever shall make any like it, to use as perfume, shall be cut off from his people.”
