Та ось радість і втіха: забивають худобу велику та ріжуть худобу дрібну́, їдять мясо й вино попива́ють, викрикуючи: „Будем їсти та пити, бо взавтра помре́м!

І відкрив Господь Саваот в мої уші: Напевно не про́ститься вам беззако́нство оце, аж поки ви не помрете́, промовив Господь, Бог Саваот.

“Come, go to this steward,

Так промовив Господь, Бог Саваот: Іди, увійди до того управи́теля, до Шевни, що над домом, та й скажеш:
‘What right do you have here,

You who carve a resting place for yourself in the rock?
And whom do you have here,

„Що́ ти тут маєш, і хто́ тут у тебе, що гро́ба для себе тут ви́довбав?“ Ти ви́рубав на висоті́ свого гро́ба, ти ви́довбав в скелі оселю собі,
‘Behold, the LORD is about to hurl you headlong, O man.

звива́ючи, зви́не тебе на клубо́к, і кине, як ку́лю, у землю просто́ру, і там ти помре́ш, і пі́дуть туди й вози славні твої, о га́ньбо ти дому свого госпо́даря!
“I will depose you from your office,

І попхну́ тебе з стану твого́, і скину тебе з того місця, на яко́му стоїш.
“Then it will come about in that day,

І станеться в день той, і покли́чу Свого раба Еліякима, сина Хілкійїного,
And I will clothe him with your tunic
And tie your sash securely about him.

і на нього хіто́на твого́ одягну́, і підпережу́ Я його твоїм по́ясом, панува́ння твоє дам у руку його, і стане він ба́тьком для ме́шканця Єрусалиму та для Юдиного дому!
“Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder,

І дам ключа́ дому Давидового на раме́но його, — і коли він відчи́нить, не буде кому замика́ти, коли ж він замкне́, то не буде кому відчиня́ти.
“I will drive him like a peg in a firm place,
And he will become a throne of glory to his father’s house.

І його Я заб'ю́, мов кілка́, в певне місце, і стане він до́мові батька свого троном слави.

І повісять на ньому всю славу отці́вського дому його, наща́дки та дикі відро́стки, увесь по́суд малий від мисо́к й аж до всякого по́суду глиняного!
“In that day,” declares the LORD of hosts, “the peg driven in a firm place will give way; it will even break off and fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut off, for the LORD has spoken.”
Того дня, — говорить Господь Саваот, — похитне́ться кіло́к, що був в певне місце забитий, і буде відру́баний та й упаде́, — і зни́щений буде тяга́р, що на ньому, бо так каже Госпо́дь!
