Darby Bible Translation

  • Cheer for Prostrate Zion

    Awake, awake,
    Clothe yourself in your strength, O Zion;
    Clothe yourself in your beautiful garments,
    O Jerusalem, the holy city;
    For the uncircumcised and the unclean
    Will no longer come into you.
  • Deliverance for Jerusalem

    Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
  • Shake yourself from the dust, rise up,
    O captive Jerusalem;
    Loose yourself from the chains around your neck,
    O captive daughter of Zion.
  • Shake thyself from the dust; arise, sit down, Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, captive daughter of Zion.
  • For thus says the LORD, “You were sold for nothing and you will be redeemed without money.”
  • For thus saith Jehovah: Ye have sold yourselves for nought, and ye shall be redeemed without money.
  • For thus says the Lord GOD, “My people went down at the first into Egypt to reside there; then the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
  • For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and Assyria oppressed them without cause;
  • “Now therefore, what do I have here,” declares the LORD, “seeing that My people have been taken away without cause?” Again the LORD declares, “Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually blasphemed all day long.
  • and now, what have I here, saith Jehovah, that my people hath been taken away for nought? They that rule over them make them to howl, saith Jehovah; and continually all the day is my name scorned.
  • “Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day I am the one who is speaking, ‘Here I am.’”
  • Therefore my people shall know my name; therefore [they shall know] in that day that I [am] HE, that saith, Here am I.
  • How lovely on the mountains
    Are the feet of him who brings good news,
    Who announces peace
    And brings good news of happiness,
    Who announces salvation,
    And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
  • How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that announceth glad tidings, that publisheth peace; that announceth glad tidings of good, that publisheth salvation, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
  • Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices,
    They shout joyfully together;
    For they will see with their own eyes
    When the LORD restores Zion.
  • -- The voice of thy watchmen, they lift up the voice, they sing aloud together; for they shall see eye to eye, when Jehovah shall bring again Zion.
  • Break forth, shout joyfully together,
    You waste places of Jerusalem;
    For the LORD has comforted His people,
    He has redeemed Jerusalem.
  • Break forth, sing aloud together, waste places of Jerusalem; for Jehovah comforteth his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
  • The LORD has bared His holy arm
    In the sight of all the nations,
    That all the ends of the earth may see
    The salvation of our God.
  • Jehovah hath made bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
  • Depart, depart, go out from there,
    Touch nothing unclean;
    Go out of the midst of her, purify yourselves,
    You who carry the vessels of the LORD.
  • -- Depart, depart, go out from thence, touch not what is unclean; go out of the midst of her, be ye clean, that bear the vessels of Jehovah.
  • But you will not go out in haste,
    Nor will you go as fugitives;
    For the LORD will go before you,
    And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
  • For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; for Jehovah will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear-guard.

  • The Exalted Servant

    Behold, My servant will prosper,
    He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted.
  • The Servant Exalted

    Behold, my servant shall deal prudently; he shall be exalted and be lifted up, and be very high.
  • Just as many were astonished at you, My people,
    So His appearance was marred more than any man
    And His form more than the sons of men.
  • As many were astonished at thee -- his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the children of men
  • Thus He will sprinkle many nations,
    Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him;
    For what had not been told them they will see,
    And what they had not heard they will understand.
  • -- so shall he astonish many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for what had not been told them shall they see, and what they had not heard shall they consider.
