На Єгипет. На ві́йсько фараона Нехо́, єгипетського царя, що був над рі́чкою Ефратом у Каркеміші, якого побив Навуходоно́сор, вавилонський цар, за четвертого року Єгоякима, сина Йосіїного, царя Юдиного:
“Line up the shield and buckler,
And draw near for the battle!

“Harness the horses,
And mount the steeds,
And take your stand with helmets on!

Put on the scale-armor!

Запрягайте но коні й сідайте, верхівці́, і поставайте в шоло́мах! Ви́чистіть ра́тища та зодягні́ться в кольчу́ги!

And have taken refuge in flight,
Without facing back;
Terror is on every side!”

Що то бачу: вони полякались й назад відступають? А ли́царі їхні подо́лані та втікають і не оглядаються. Страхіття навко́ло, говорить Господь!

Швидки́й не втече, і не врятується ли́цар, — на пі́вночі, при річці Ефра́ті спіткну́ться вони та й попа́дають!

Хто то такий підіймається, мов та Ріка́, як річки́, його води хвилю́ються?

Єгипет, немов та Ріка́, підіймається він, — мов річки́, його води хвилюються, — і каже: Підійму́ся, покрию я землю, і ви́гублю місто й мешка́нців його!

Сідайте на ко́ні й шалійте, колесни́ці! І хай ли́царі вийдуть, Куш та Пут, що хапають щита́, та люді́йці, що хапають, натягують лу́ка!

А день цей — Господа, Бога Саваота, день помсти, щоб помсти́тися над ворогами Своїми, і меч буде же́рти — й наси́титься, і до́сить нап'ється їхньої кро́ви, бо це́ буде жертва для Господа, Бога Саваота, в півні́чному кра́ї при річці Ефраті!

Піди до Ґілеаду, й бальза́му візьми́, ді́вчино, дочко Єгипту! Надармо вживаєш ти ліків багато, — своїх ран не заго́їш!

Почули наро́ди про га́ньбу твою, а крику твого стала повна земля, бо спіткну́лися ли́цар об ли́царя, ра́зом упали обоє вони!“
This is the message which the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:
Слово, що говорив Господь пророкові Єремії про прихі́д Навуходоносора, царя вавилонського, щоб побити єгипетську землю:
“Declare in Egypt and proclaim in Migdol,
Proclaim also in Memphis and Tahpanhes;

„Розкажіте в Єгипті, і розголосіте в Міґдолі, і розголосіте в Нофі й Тахпанхесі! Скажіть: стань, і собі приготуйся, бо меч пожира́є круг тебе!

Чому́ твої ли́царі впали? Не втрималися, бо пхнув їх Господь!
“They have repeatedly stumbled;

Away from the sword of the oppressor.’

Стало багато таких, що спіткну́лися, навіть падають один на одно́го й говорять: Уставай, і до свого народу вернімось, і до кра́ю наро́дження нашого, перед згубним мече́м!

Назвіте ім'я́ фараону, цареві єгипетському: Заги́біль, — пропустив він уста́лений час!
“As I live,” declares the King

Приготуй необхідне собі на мандрі́вки, мешка́нко, о до́чко Єгипту, бо стане спусто́шенням Ноф, і він спа́лений буде, — і в ньому не буде мешка́нця!
“Egypt is a pretty heifer,

Єгипет — теля гарноу́сте, та летить он із пі́вночі ґедзь!

Серед нього й його наймити́, мов телята вгодо́вані, та й вони повернулись назад, повтікали разом, не спинились, бо день їхнього нещастя прийшов ось на них, час наві́щення їх.
“Its sound moves along like a serpent;

Розлягається голос його, як гадю́че сича́ння, бо йдуть вони з ві́йськом, і при́йдуть до нього з сокирами, мов дровору́би.
“They have cut down her forest,” declares the LORD;

And are without number.

Засоромлена буде єгипетська до́нька, — буде ви́дана в руку наро́ду півні́чного.

Говорить Господь Саваот, Бог Ізраїлів: Ось Я покараю Амо́на із Но, і фараона, і Єгипет, і богів його, і царів його, і фараона, і тих, що на нього наді́ються.
“I shall give them over to the power of those who are seeking their lives, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of his officers. Afterwards, however, it will be inhabited as in the days of old,” declares the LORD.
І дам їх у руку всіх тих, хто шукає їхню душу, і в руку Навуходоносора, царя вавилонського, і в руку рабів його, а пото́му він буде засе́лений, як за днів давніх, говорить Господь!

Nor be dismayed, O Israel!
For, see, I am going to save you from afar,

And secure, with no one making him tremble.

А ти не лякайся, рабе Мій Якове, і не страши́ся, Ізраїлю, бо Я ось врятую тебе здале́ка, і насіння твоє — з краю їхнього поло́ну! І ве́рнеться Яків, і буде спокійний, і буде безпечний, і не буде того, хто б його настраши́в!
“O Jacob My servant, do not fear,” declares the LORD,
“For I am with you.
For I will make a full end of all the nations
Where I have driven you,
Yet I will not make a full end of you;
But I will correct you properly
And by no means leave you unpunished.”

А ти не лякайся, рабе Мій Якове, — каже Господь, — бо Я з тобою, бо зроблю́ Я кінець всім наро́дам, куди тебе вигнав, та з тобою кінця не зроблю́, і тебе покараю за правом, і тебе непока́раним не полишу́!“
