Jeremiah Shares Israel’s Affliction

I am the man who has seen affliction
Because of the rod of His wrath.

1

He has driven me and made me walk
In darkness and not in light.

Господь меня повёл и ввёл во тьму, туда, где свет не виден.

Surely against me He has turned His hand
Repeatedly all the day.

He has caused my flesh and my skin to waste away,
He has broken my bones.

Он кожу и плоть мою состарил, и кости сокрушил мои.

He has besieged and encompassed me with bitterness and hardship.

Господь меня огородил и окружил со всех сторон горечью и бедами.

In dark places He has made me dwell,
Like those who have long been dead.

Он в темноте меня сидеть заставил, как будто я давно уж мёртвым был.

He has walled me in so that I cannot go out;
He has made my chain heavy.

Он запер меня, чтобы выйти я не мог. Тяжёлые оковы на меня надел.

Even when I cry out and call for help,
He shuts out my prayer.

И если я взываю и о помощи молю, не слышит Он мою молитву.

He has blocked my ways with hewn stone;
He has made my paths crooked.

Камнями засыпал Он мои дороги. Пути Он искривил мои.

He is to me like a bear lying in wait,
Like a lion in secret places.

Господь стал, как медведь, готовый на меня напасть. Он стал, как лев в засаде.

11

He has turned aside my ways and torn me to pieces;
He has made me desolate.

Увёл меня Господь с дороги и, разорвав меня на части, уничтожил.

12

He bent His bow
And set me as a target for the arrow.

12

Он лук Свой натянул, и сделал Он меня для стрел Своих мишенью.

13

He made the arrows of His quiver
To enter into my inward parts.

13

Он выстрелил в живот мне. Пускал в меня Он стрелами Своими.

14

I have become a laughingstock to all my people,
Their mocking song all the day.

14

И для народа своего посмешищем я стал, весь день он надо мной смеётся в своих песнях.

15

He has filled me with bitterness,
He has made me drunk with wormwood.

15

Господь мне выпить этот яд дал. Напитком этим горьким Он меня пресытил.

16

He has broken my teeth with gravel;
He has made me cower in the dust.

16

Господь толкнул меня зубами в камни. Он в грязь меня поверг.

17

My soul has been rejected from peace;
I have forgotten happiness.

17

Я думал, что мир не обрести мне больше никогда, и о хорошем я забыл.

18

So I say, “My strength has perished,
And so has my hope from the LORD.”

18

И я себе сказал: "Надежды больше нет, что мне Господь поможет".

19

Hope of Relief in God’s Mercy

Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.

19

Помни, Господи, о моём страдании, нет мне пристанища, о горьком яде, который Ты мне дал.

20

Surely my soul remembers
And is bowed down within me.

20

Я помню хорошо все свои беды. Душа моя подавлена во мне.

21

This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.

21

Но думаю тогда я о другом и зиждится надежда. Я уповаю:

22

The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.

22

"Бесконечна Господа любовь и доброта. Неиссякаемо Его милосердие.

23

They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

23

Они каждое утро обновляются. Велика верность Твоя, Господи".

24

“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”

24

Я говорю себе: "Господь — моя доля, поэтому надеяться я буду".

25

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.

25

Господь к тем добр, кто уповает на Него. Господь к тем добр, кто Его ищет.

26

It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the LORD.

26

Благо тому, кто терпеливо ждёт спасения от Господа.

27

It is good for a man that he should bear
The yoke in his youth.

27

Благо человеку, с юных лет Господа ярмо несущему.

28

Let him sit alone and be silent
Since He has laid it on him.

28

Сидеть в уединении он должен молча, ибо Господь наложил на него ярмо.

29

Let him put his mouth in the dust,
Perhaps there is hope.

29

И кланяться он должен Господу до самой земли лицом: может быть, ещё есть надежда.

30

Let him give his cheek to the smiter,
Let him be filled with reproach.

30

Пусть он подставит щёку тому, кто бьёт его. Он оскорблять себя позволить людям должен.

31

For the Lord will not reject forever,

31

И помнить человек тот должен, что не на век удаляет Господь.

32

For if He causes grief,
Then He will have compassion
According to His abundant lovingkindness.

32

Господь наказывает, но Он и милосерден из-за любви и доброты Своей великой.

33

For He does not afflict willingly
Or grieve the sons of men.

33

Господь наказывать не хочет, несчастными людей не любит делать Он.

34

To crush under His feet
All the prisoners of the land,

34

Не любит Он, чтоб кто-то ногами своими всех пленников земли топтал.

35

To deprive a man of justice
In the presence of the Most High,

35

Не любит Он, чтоб кто-то несправедливым был к другому пред Всевышним,

36

To defraud a man in his lawsuit —
Of these things the Lord does not approve.

36

и чтоб один обманывал другого. Не любит это всё Господь.

37

Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass,
Unless the Lord has commanded it?

37

Никто не может сделать так, чтобы сказанное им свершилось, если не будет на то воли Господа.

38

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High
That both good and ill go forth?

38

Всевышний издаёт указы, чтобы хорошему быть и плохому.

39

Why should any living mortal, or any man,
Offer complaint in view of his sins?

39

Когда Господь наказывает за грехи, никто из живущих не должен сетовать.

40

Let us examine and probe our ways,
And let us return to the LORD.

40

Посмотрим и проверим, каким путём мы шли, и к Господу потом вернёмся.

41

We lift up our heart and hands
Toward God in heaven;

41

Вознесём сердца наши и руки к Богу на небесах и скажем:

42

We have transgressed and rebelled,
You have not pardoned.

42

"Мы согрешили и упрямы были. Поэтому Ты не простил нас.

43

You have covered Yourself with anger
And pursued us;
You have slain and have not spared.

43

Ты покрыл Себя гневом и преследовал нас. Ты нас убивал без пощады!

44

You have covered Yourself with a cloud
So that no prayer can pass through.

44

Ты закрыл Себя облаком, чтобы наши молитвы к Тебе не дошли.

45

You have made us mere offscouring and refuse
In the midst of the peoples.

45

Ты сделал нас грязью и сором среди других народов.

46

All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

46

Все наши враги со злостью с нами говорят.

47

Panic and pitfall have befallen us,
Devastation and destruction;

47

Мы в ужасе были, упав в яму, страдали от разорения и опустошения".

48

My eyes run down with streams of water
Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.

48

Слезы из глаз моих текут ручьём. Над гибелью народа своего я плачу!

49

My eyes pour down unceasingly,
Without stopping,

Слезы мои текут потоком! Глаза не перестанут изливаться,

50

Until the LORD looks down
And sees from heaven.

50

пока Ты, Господи, вниз не посмотришь и не увидишь нас с небес!

51

My eyes bring pain to my soul
Because of all the daughters of my city.

51

Глаза мои меня печалят, когда я вижу, что происходит с девушками в городе моём.

52

My enemies without cause
Hunted me down like a bird;

52

Те люди были мне врагами без причины. Но как за птичкой, они охотились за мной.

53

They have silenced me in the pit
And have placed a stone on me.

53

Они меня повергли в яму, когда я был ещё живой, и закидали меня камнями.

54

Waters flowed over my head;
I said, “I am cut off!”

54

Воды сомкнулись у меня над головой, и я подумал, что мне пришёл конец.

55

I called on Your name, O LORD,
Out of the lowest pit.

55

Я к имени взывал Твоему, Господи, имя Твоё призывал со дна ямы.

56

You have heard my voice,
“Do not hide Your ear from my prayer for relief,
From my cry for help.”

56

Ты слышал голос мой и уши не закрыл Свои, не отказался Ты спасти меня.

57

You drew near when I called on You;
You said, “Do not fear!”

57

Ты подошёл ко мне, когда Тебя я звал. Ты мне сказал: "Не бойся".

58

O Lord, You have pleaded my soul’s cause;
You have redeemed my life.

58

Меня, Господь, Ты оправдал. Ты жизнь мою вернул мне.

59

O LORD, You have seen my oppression;
Judge my case.

59

Ты видел моё горе, Господи, рассуди же дело моё.

60

You have seen all their vengeance,
All their schemes against me.

60

Ты видел, как враги мне причиняли зло. Ты видел их замыслы против меня.

61

You have heard their reproach, O LORD,
All their schemes against me.

61

Ты оскорбления их слышал, Господи. Ты слышал все их злые замыслы против меня.

62

The lips of my assailants and their whispering
Are against me all day long.

62

Всегда против меня и думы и слова врагов моих.

63

Look on their sitting and their rising;
I am their mocking song.

63

Когда они сидят, когда они встают, смотри, как надо мной они смеются!

64

You will recompense them, O LORD,
According to the work of their hands.

64

Воздай им, Господи, по делам их!

65

You will give them hardness of heart,
Your curse will be on them.

65

Помрачи сердца их! Проклятие Своё пошли на них!

66

You will pursue them in anger and destroy them
From under the heavens of the LORD!

66

Преследуй их во гневе и истреби их, Господи, из поднебесья!
