Darby Bible Translation

  • Evil Rulers to Be Judged

Moreover, the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the LORD’S house which faced eastward. And behold, there were twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate, and among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
  • Evil in High Places

And the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of Jehovah's house, which looketh eastward; and behold, at the door of the gate were five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
  • He said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and give evil advice in this city,
  • And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and give wicked counsel in this city:
  • who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses. This city is the pot and we are the flesh.’
  • who say, It is not the time to build houses: this is the cauldron, and we are the flesh.
  • “Therefore, prophesy against them, son of man, prophesy!”
  • Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, son of man.
  • Then the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and He said to me, “Say, ‘Thus says the LORD, “So you think, house of Israel, for I know your thoughts.
  • And the Spirit of Jehovah fell on me, and said unto me, Speak, Thus saith Jehovah: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; and the things that come into your mind, I know them.
  • “You have multiplied your slain in this city, filling its streets with them.”
  • Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
  • ‘Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, “Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of the city are the flesh and this city is the pot; but I will bring you out of it.
  • Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and it is the cauldron; but you will I bring forth out of the midst of it.
  • “You have feared a sword; so I will bring a sword upon you,” the Lord GOD declares.
  • Ye have feared the sword, and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • “And I will bring you out of the midst of the city and deliver you into the hands of strangers and execute judgments against you.
  • And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and give you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
  • “You will fall by the sword. I will judge you to the border of Israel; so you shall know that I am the LORD.
  • Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the borders of Israel; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
  • “This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be flesh in the midst of it, but I will judge you to the border of Israel.
  • This shall not be your cauldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst of it: I will judge you in the borders of Israel;
  • “Thus you will know that I am the LORD; for you have not walked in My statutes nor have you executed My ordinances, but have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you.”’”
  • and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah, in whose statutes ye have not walked, neither have done mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.
  • Now it came about as I prophesied, that Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell on my face and cried out with a loud voice and said, “Alas, Lord GOD! Will You bring the remnant of Israel to a complete end?”
  • A Promise of Restoration

And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. And I fell down on my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

  • Promise of Restoration

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
  • And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
  • “Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, your fellow exiles and the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far from the LORD; this land has been given us as a possession.’
  • Son of man, [it is] thy brethren, thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, the whole of it, unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem say, Get you far from Jehovah: unto us is this land given for a possession.
  • “Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Though I had removed them far away among the nations and though I had scattered them among the countries, yet I was a sanctuary for them a little while in the countries where they had gone.”’
  • Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Although I have removed them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries whither they are come.
  • “Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”’
  • Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
  • “When they come there, they will remove all its detestable things and all its abominations from it.
  • And they shall come thither, and they shall take away from thence all its detestable things and all its abominations.
  • “And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,
  • And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;
  • that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.
  • that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
  • “But as for those whose hearts go after their detestable things and abominations, I will bring their conduct down on their heads,” declares the Lord GOD.
  • But as for them whose heart walketh well-pleased with their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their heads, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Then the cherubim lifted up their wings with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel hovered over them.
  • God's Glory Leaves Jerusalem

And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
  • The glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood over the mountain which is east of the city.
  • And the glory of Jehovah went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
  • And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God to the exiles in Chaldea. So the vision that I had seen left me.
  • And the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity; and the vision that I had seen went up from me.
  • Then I told the exiles all the things that the LORD had shown me.
  • And I spoke unto them of the captivity all the things that Jehovah had shewn me.
