Jerusalem like a Useless Vine
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
И было ко мне слово Господне:
“Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any wood of a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
сын человеческий! какое преимущество имеет дерево виноградной лозы перед всяким другим деревом и ветви виноградной лозы — между деревами в лесу?
“Can wood be taken from it to make anything, or can men take a peg from it on which to hang any vessel?
Берут ли от него кусок на какое-либо изделие? Берут ли от него хотя на гвоздь, чтобы вешать на нём какую-либо вещь?
“If it has been put into the fire for fuel, and the fire has consumed both of its ends and its middle part has been charred, is it then useful for anything?
Вот, оно отдаётся огню на съедение; оба конца его огонь поел, и обгорела середина его: годится ли оно на какое-нибудь изделие?
“Behold, while it is intact, it is not made into anything. How much less, when the fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it still be made into anything!
И тогда, как оно было цело, не годилось ни на какое изделие; тем паче, когда огонь поел его, и оно обгорело, годится ли оно на какое-нибудь изделие?
“Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, ‘As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Посему так говорит Господь Бог: как дерево виноградной лозы между деревами лесными Я отдал огню на съедение, так отдам ему и жителей Иерусалима.
and I set My face against them. Though they have come out of the fire, yet the fire will consume them. Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I set My face against them.
И обращу лицо Моё против них; из одного огня выйдут, и другой огонь пожрёт их, — и узнаете, что Я — Господь, когда обращу против них лицо Моё.
