God’s Dealings with Israel Rehearsed
Now in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth of the month, certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

І сталося за сьомого року, в п'ятому місяці, у десятому дні місяця, поприхо́дили люди з Ізраїлевих старши́х, щоб запитатися в Господа, і посідали передо мною.
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Do you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’
„Сину лю́дський, говори з Ізраїлевими старши́ми та й скажеш до них: Так говорить Господь Бог: Чи ви прийшли, щоб запитатися в Мене? Як живий Я, — не відповім вам, говорить Господь Бог!
“Will you judge them, will you judge them, son of man? Make them know the abominations of their fathers;
Чи ти розсудиш їх, чи ти їх розсудиш, сину лю́дський? Завідо́м їх про гидо́ти їхніх батьків,
and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “On the day when I chose Israel and swore to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, I am the LORD your God,
та й скажеш до них: Так говорить Господь Бог: Того дня, коли Я був вибрав Ізраїля, і підні́с Свою руку до насіння Якового дому, і відкрився їм в єгипетському кра́ї, і підні́с Свою руку до них, говорячи: „Я Господь, Бог ваш“,
on that day I swore to them, to bring them out from the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.
того дня Я підні́с Свою руку до них, щоб вивести їх з єгипетського кра́ю до Кра́ю, що Я вислідив для них, що тече молоком та медом, що він окра́са для всіх країв.
“I said to them, ‘Cast away, each of you, the detestable things of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.’
І сказав Я до них: Відкидайте кожен гидо́ти від оче́й своїх, і не занечищуйтеся божка́ми Єгипту. Я — Господь, Бог ваш!
“But they rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; they did not cast away the detestable things of their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.
Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Та були вони ворохо́бні проти Мене, і не хотіли слухатися Мене, не відкидали кожен гидо́т від очей своїх, і не покинули єгипетських божкі́в. І поду́мав Я, що виллю на них Свою Лютість, що докінчу́ на них Свій гнів посеред єгипетського кра́ю.
“But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made Myself known to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
І зробив Я ради Свого Йме́ння, щоб воно не безче́стилося на оча́х тих наро́дів, що вони серед них, що Я відкрився їм на їхніх оча́х, щоб вивести їх з єгипетського кра́ю.
“So I took them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.
І вивів Я їх з єгипетського кра́ю, і спровадив їх до пустині.
“I gave them My statutes and informed them of My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live.
І дав їм постанови Свої, і познайо́мив їх з постано́вами Моїми, які коли чинитиме люди́на, то житиме ними.
“Also I gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
I також дав Я їм Свої суботи, щоб були вони знаком поміж Мною та між ними, щоб пізна́ти, що Я Господь, що освя́чує їх.
“But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes and they rejected My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live; and My sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness, to annihilate them.
Та став ворохо́бним проти мене Ізраїлів дім на пустині, — уставами Моїми не ходили вони, і повідкида́ли Мої постанови, які коли чинить люди́на, то житиме ними, а суботи Мої дуже зневажа́ли. Тому́ Я сказав був, що виллю лютість Свою на них на пустині, щоб ви́губити їх.
“But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, before whose sight I had brought them out.
Та зробив Я ради Ймення Свого, щоб воно не зневажалося на оча́х тих народів, що на їхніх очах Я вивів їх.
“Also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands,
Але й Я, прирікаючи, підні́с їм Свою руку на пустині, що не впрова́джу їх до кра́ю, якого Я дав, що тече молоком та медом, що окра́са він для всіх країв,
because they rejected My ordinances, and as for My statutes, they did not walk in them; they even profaned My sabbaths, for their heart continually went after their idols.
за те, що постанови Мої вони відки́нули, а устави Мої — не ходили вони ними, і суботи Мої зневажали, бо за своїми божка́ми ходило їхнє серце.
“Yet My eye spared them rather than destroying them, and I did not cause their annihilation in the wilderness.
І зми́лувалось Моє око над ними, щоб не нищити їх, і не зробив Я з ними кінця́ на пустині.
“I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers or keep their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.
І сказав Я їхнім синам на пустині: Уставами ваших батьків не ходіть, і постанов їхніх не перестерігайте, і божка́ми їхніми не занечи́щуйтесь!
‘I am the LORD your God; walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and observe them.
Я — Господь, Бог ваш, уставами Моїми ходіть, і постанови Мої перестеріга́йте й виконуйте їх.
‘Sanctify My sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.’
І святіть суботи Мої, і вони стануть знаком поміж Мною та між вами, щоб пізнати, що Я — Господь, Бог ваш!
“But the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, nor were they careful to observe My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live; they profaned My sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the wilderness.
Та стали ворохо́бні ті сини проти Мене, — уставами Моїми не ходили, а постанов Моїх не перестерігали, щоб виконувати їх, які коли робить люди́на, то житиме ними, і суботи Мої зневажали. І поду́мав Я був, що виллю лютість Свою на них, щоб заспоко́їти гнів Мій на них на пустині.
“But I withdrew My hand and acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
І відвернув Я Свою руку, і зробив ради Ймення Свого, щоб не зневажати його на оча́х тих наро́дів, що на їхніх очах Я їх вивів.
“Also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them among the lands,
Та й Я, прирікаючи, підні́с їм Свою руку на пустині, щоб розпоро́шити їх серед наро́дів і порозсипа́ти їх по края́х,
because they had not observed My ordinances, but had rejected My statutes and had profaned My sabbaths, and their eyes were on the idols of their fathers.
за те, що постанов Моїх не чинили, і устави Мої відкинули, а суботи Мої зневажали, і до божків своїх батьків були їхні очі.
“I also gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances by which they could not live;
І тому Я дав їм мати устави недобрі, і постанови, що не будуть вони жити ними.
and I pronounced them unclean because of their gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire so that I might make them desolate, in order that they might know that I am the LORD.”’
І занечи́стив Я їх їхніми дару́нками, перепрова́дженням через огонь кожного, хто відкриває утро́бу, щоб спусто́шити їх, щоб пізнали вони, що Я — Господь!
“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed Me by acting treacherously against Me.
Тому говори до Ізраїлевого дому, сину лю́дський, і скажи до них: Так говорить Господь Бог: Ще оцим зневажали Мене батьки ваші, коли спроневі́рилися проти Мене:
“When I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every leafy tree, and they offered there their sacrifices and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their soothing aroma and there they poured out their drink offerings.
коли Я ввів їх до кра́ю, що про нього, прирікаючи, підно́сив Я Свою руку дати його їм, то коли вони бачили всякий високий па́гірок і всяке густе дерево, то прино́сили там свої жертви, і давали там свої дари, що гніви́ли Мене, і складали там свої любі па́хощі, і прино́сили там свої литі жертви.
“Then I said to them, ‘What is the high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’
І сказав Я до них: Що́ це за висота, що ви ходите туди? І зветься вона Бама́ аж до цього дня.
“Therefore, say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Will you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and play the harlot after their detestable things?
Тому скажи до Ізраїлевого дому: Так говорить Господь Бог: Чи ви будете занечи́щуватися дорогою своїх батьків і будете ходити в розпусті за гидо́тами їхніми?
“When you offer your gifts, when you cause your sons to pass through the fire, you are defiling yourselves with all your idols to this day. And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will not be inquired of by you.
А прино́шенням ваших да́рів, перепрова́дженням ваших синів через огонь ви занечи́щуєтеся при всіх ваших божка́х аж до сьогодні. А ви хочете питати Мене, Ізраїлів доме? Як живий Я, говорить Господь Бог, — не дам Я вам відповіді!
“What comes into your mind will not come about, when you say: ‘We will be like the nations, like the tribes of the lands, serving wood and stone.’
А що входить вам на серце, зо́всім не станеться те, що ви говорите: „Будемо, як інші наро́ди, як племе́на кра́ю, служити дереву та каменю“.
God Will Restore Israel to Her Land
“As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “surely with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I shall be king over you.
Як живий Я, говорить Господь Бог, — рукою поту́жною й ви́тягненим раме́ном та вили́ваною лютістю буду царюва́ти над вами!
“I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out;
І ви́веду вас із тих наро́дів, і позбираю вас із тих краї́в, де ви розпоро́шені рукою поту́жною й ви́тягненим раме́ном та вили́ваною лютістю.
and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
І заведу́ вас до пустині народів, і буду там судитися з вами лицем до лиця, —
“As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” declares the Lord GOD.
як судився Я з вашими батьками на пустині єгипетського кра́ю, так буду судитися з вами, говорить Господь Бог!
“I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;
І проведу́ вас під па́лицею, і введу́ вас у зв'язо́к заповіту.
and I will purge from you the rebels and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the land where they sojourn, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Thus you will know that I am the LORD.
І повибираю з вас бунтівникі́в та тих, що грішать проти Мене, повипрова́джую їх з кра́ю їхнього пробува́ння, і до Ізраїлевої землі вже не вві́йдуть вони! І пізнаєте ви, що Я — Госпо́дь!
“As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord GOD, “Go, serve everyone his idols; but later you will surely listen to Me, and My holy name you will profane no longer with your gifts and with your idols.
А ви, Ізраїлів доме, так говорить Господь Бог: Кожен ідіть, служіть своїм божка́м! Але потім ви напевно бу́дете слухатися Мене, і святого Ймення Мого ви вже не знева́жите своїми дару́нками та своїми божка́ми.
“For on My holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel,” declares the Lord GOD, “there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land; there I will accept them and there I will seek your contributions and the choicest of your gifts, with all your holy things.
Бо на Моїй святій горі, на високій Ізраїлевій горі, — говорить Господь Бог, — там буде служити Мені ввесь Ізраїлів дім, увесь він, що в краю́, там Я їх уподо́баю Собі, і там зажадаю ваших прино́шень і первопло́дів ваших прино́шень у всіх ваших святощах!
“As a soothing aroma I will accept you when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered; and I will prove Myself holy among you in the sight of the nations.
Лю́бими па́хощами вподо́баю Собі вас, коли вас ви́веду з наро́дів, і зберу́ вас із тих країв, де ви розпоро́шені, і буду Я святитися між вами на оча́х усіх поган.
“And you will know that I am the LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the land which I swore to give to your forefathers.
І пізнаєте ви, що Я — Господь, коли впрова́джу вас до Ізраїлевої землі, до того кра́ю, що про нього, прирікаючи, підні́с Я Свою руку дати його вашим батька́м.
“There you will remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for all the evil things that you have done.
І згадаєте там свої дороги, і всі свої вчинки, якими ви занечи́стилися, і почуєте оги́дження перед самими собою за всі ваші ли́ха, які наробили.
“Then you will know that I am the LORD when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your evil ways or according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel,” declares the Lord GOD.’”
І пізна́єте, що Я — Господь, коли Я чинитиму з вами ради Ймення Свого, а не за вашими злими дорогами та за вашими зіпсутими вчи́нками, доме Ізраїлів, говорить Господь Бог“.
