“Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people saying,
Промов до Зоровавеля, сина Салатіїла з племені Юди, і до Ісуса, сина Йоседека, великого священика, і до всіх інших з народу, кажучи:
‘Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem to you like nothing in comparison?
Хто з вас той, хто бачив цей дім у його попередній славі? І як ви його тепер бачите? Так, наче не існує перед вами.
‘But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ declares the LORD, ‘take courage also, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all you people of the land take courage,’ declares the LORD, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ declares the LORD of hosts.
І тепер скріпися, Зоровавеле, — говорить Господь, — і скріпися, Ісусе, сину Йоседека, великий священику, і нехай скріпиться весь народ землі, — говорить Господь, — і робіть. Тому що Я є з вами, — говорить Господь Вседержитель, —
‘As for the promise which I made you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit is abiding in your midst; do not fear!’

“For thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
Тому що так говорить Господь Вседержитель: Я ще раз затрясу небо і землю, море і сушу.
‘I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts.
І Я потрясу всі народи, і прийде вибране всіх народів, і Я наповню цей дім слави, — говорить Господь Вседержитель!
‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the LORD of hosts.
Моє срібло і Моє золото, — говорить Господь Вседержитель.
‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ declares the LORD of hosts.”
Тому великою буде слава цього дому, остання — більша, ніж перша! — говорить Господь Вседержитель. І в цьому місці Я дам мир, — говорить Господь Вседержитель, і мир душі в надбання для кожного, що будує, щоб підняти цей храм.
On the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,

“Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Ask now the priests for a ruling:

‘If a man carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and touches bread with this fold, or cooked food, wine, oil, or any other food, will it become holy?’” And the priests answered, “No.”
Якщо людина візьме святе м’ясо на край свого одягу і доторкнеться краєм його одягу до хліба чи печеного, чи вина, чи олії, чи всякої їжі, чи воно освятиться? І священики відповіли, кажучи: Ні!
Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean from a corpse touches any of these, will the latter become unclean?” And the priests answered, “It will become unclean.”
І сказав Ангей: Якщо нечистий від душі доторкнеться до цього всього, чи буде нечистим? І священики відповіли, і сказали: Буде нечистим!
Then Haggai said, “ ‘So is this people. And so is this nation before Me,’ declares the LORD, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
І Ангей відповів, і сказав: Такий цей народ, і такий цей народ переді Мною, — говорить Господь, — і такі всі діла їхніх рук, і хто лише туди наблизиться, буде нечистим через їхні ранні тягарі, зболілі будуть від обличчя їхніх трудів. І ви зненавиділи в брамах тих, що картають.
‘But now, do consider from this day onward: before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
Тепер же поставте до ваших сердець від цього дня й надалі, раніше, ніж класти камінь на камінь у Господньому храмі,
from that time when one came to a grain heap of twenty measures, there would be only ten; and when one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures, there would be only twenty.
які ви є. Коли ви клали в кошик двадцять мірок ячменю, а було десять мірок ячменю. І ви підходили до виноградного чану начерпати п’ятдесят мірок, а було двадцять.
‘I smote you and every work of your hands with blasting wind, mildew and hail; yet you did not come back to Me,’ declares the LORD.
Я вас уразив недостатком, і всі діла ваших рук поганим вітром і градом, та ви не повернулися до Мене, — говорить Господь.
‘Do consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of the LORD was founded, consider:
Налаштуйте ж ваші серця від цього дня і далі! Від двадцять четвертого дня дев’ятого місяця і від дня, в який засновано Господній храм, поставте у ваших серцях,
‘Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree, it has not borne fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you.’”
чи ще відоме буде на току, і чи ще є виноград, смоківниця, гранат і оливкове дерево, що не приносять плоду? Від цього дня Я поблагословлю!
Then the word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,
І було Господнє слово вдруге до пророка Ангея двадцять четвертого дня місяця, кажучи:
“Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, ‘I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
Промов до Зоровавеля, сина Салатіїла з племені Юди, говорячи: Я трясу небо і землю, море і сушу!
‘I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders will go down, everyone by the sword of another.’
Я повалю престоли царів і знищу силу царів народів, і перекину колісниці та вершників, і зійдуть коні та їхні вершники — кожний мечем проти свого брата.
‘On that day,’ declares the LORD of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’” declares the LORD of hosts.
У той день, — говорить Господь Вседержитель, — візьму тебе, Зоровавеля, сина Салатіїла, Мого раба, — говорить Господь, — і поставлю тебе як печать, тому що Я тебе полюбив, — говорить Господь Вседержитель.
