Darby Bible Translation

  • God’s Favor to Zion

Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
  • The Man with a Measure

And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
  • So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.”
  • And I said, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
  • And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him,
  • And behold, the angel that talked with me went forth; and another angel went forth to meet him,
  • and said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it.
  • and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein;
  • ‘For I,’ declares the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”
  • and I, saith Jehovah, I will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
  • “Ho there! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens,” declares the LORD.
  • The Redemption of Zion

Ho, ho! flee from the land of the north, saith Jehovah; for I have scattered you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, saith Jehovah.
  • “Ho, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon.”
  • Ho! escape, Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
  • For thus says the LORD of hosts, “After glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.
  • For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After the glory, hath he sent me unto the nations that made you a spoil; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
  • “For behold, I will wave My hand over them so that they will be plunder for their slaves. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me.
  • For behold, I will shake my hand upon them, and they shall become a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me.
  • “Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” declares the LORD.
  • Sing aloud and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.
  • “Many nations will join themselves to the LORD in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.
  • And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, and shall be unto me for a people; and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
  • “The LORD will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.
  • And Jehovah shall inherit Judah [as] his portion in the holy land, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
  • “Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for He is aroused from His holy habitation.”
  • Let all flesh be silent before Jehovah; for he is risen up out of his holy habitation.
