Giving to the Poor and Prayer

“So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
И когда молишься, не уподобляйся лицемерам, которые любят стоять в синагогах и на углах улиц и молиться напоказ перед людьми. Истинно говорю: им уже дана награда полная.
“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Ты же, когда молишься, скройся в задней комнате и, закрыв плотно дверь, молись Отцу своему тайному, и Отец твой, видящий тайное, вознаградит тебя.
“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
И когда молишься, не болтай попусту, как язычники, которые считают, что будут услышаны благодаря своему многословию.
“So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
‘Our Father who is in heaven,

‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Да наступит Царство Твое. Да исполнится воля Твоя на земле, как на небе.
‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
и прости нам грехи наши, как мы простили тех, кто причинил нам зло.
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]
И не введи нас во искушение, но избавь нас от лукавого".
“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Ибо, если вы простите людей за прегрешения их, то и Отец ваш Небесный тоже простит вам.
“But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
Если же вы не простите тех, кто причинил вам зло, то и Отец ваш не простит вам прегрешения ваши.
Fasting; The True Treasure; Wealth (Mammon)
“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
А когда поститесь, не уподобляйтесь лицемерам с унылыми лицами, ибо они принимают мрачный вид, чтобы люди видели, что они постятся. Истинно говорю вам, что уже сполна выдана им награда.
“But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face
Когда ты постишься, приведи себя в порядок и умой лицо своё,
so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
чтобы не видели люди, что ты постишься, а только Отец твой Тайный. И тогда Отец твой, видящий тайное, воздаст тебе за это".
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
"Не накапливайте сокровищ на земле, где тлен и ржавчина разрушают их и воры врываются и крадут.
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
Лучше копите себе сокровища на небе, где ничто-ни тлен, ни ржавчина-не уничтожит их и куда воры не могут проникнуть и украсть.
for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Ибо где ваше сокровище, там будет и ваше сердце.
“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.
Глаз-источник света для тела, и потому если глаза твои здоровы, то и всё тело полно света.
“But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Но если глаза твои больны, то и всё тело полно тьмы! И если тьма твой единственный источник света, то как же ужасна эта тьма!
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Никто не может служить двум господам, ибо он будет ненавидеть одного господина и любить другого или станет верным слугой одному и нерадивым другому. Не можете вы быть слугою и Богу, и деньгам".
The Cure for Anxiety
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
"Поэтому говорю вам: не заботьтесь о том, что есть и что пить для поддержания жизни вашей, ни об одежде для тела вашего. Ведь жизнь значит больше пищи, а тело — одежды.
“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Посмотрите на птиц в небе! Они не сеют и не жнут, не собирают урожая, а ваш Отец Небесный кормит их. Разве вы не значите гораздо больше, чем они?
“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
Да и кто из вас может заботой продлить свою жизнь хоть на час?
“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
И зачем беспокоитесь об одежде? Посмотрите на полевые цветы, как они растут: они не трудятся и не шьют себе одежды.
yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
Говорю вам, что даже Соломон со всем своим великолепием не имел таких одеяний, какие имеют они.
“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
И раз Бог с такой роскошью одевает полевые растения, которые сегодня есть, а завтра будут брошены в печь, то разве не оденет Он вас, маловеров, ещё лучше?
“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
Так не беспокойтесь и не говорите: "Что нам есть?" или "Что нам пить?", или "Во что одеться?"
“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
(Язычники беспокоятся обо всём этом.) Ваш же Отец Небесный знает все ваши нужды.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Заботьтесь прежде всего о Царстве Божьем и о праведности, а всё прочее будет вам дано в дополнение.
