Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;

І сталось, як ти́снувся на́товп до Нього, щоб почути Слово Боже, Він стояв біля озера Генісаре́тського.
and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
І Він побачив два чо́вни, що стояли край о́зера. А риба́лки, відійшовши від них, полоска́ли не́вода.
And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat.
І Він увійшов до одно́го з човні́в, що був Си́монів, і просив, щоб він тро́хи відплив від землі. І Він сів, та й навчав наро́д із чо́вна.
When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
А коли перестав Він навчати, промовив до Си́мона: „Попливи на глибі́нь, — і закиньте на по́лов свій не́від“.
Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.”
А Си́мон сказав Йому в відповідь: „Наставнику, — цілу ніч ми працюва́ли, і не вловили нічо́го, — та за словом Твоїм укину не́вода“.
When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;
А зробивши оце, вони бе́зліч риби набрали — і їхній не́від почав прорива́тись...
so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink.
І кива́ли вони до товаришів, що були в другім чо́вні, щоб прийшли помогти їм. Ті прийшли, та й напо́внили оби́два човни́, — аж стали вони потопа́ти.
But when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus’ feet, saying, “Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!”
А як Си́мон Петро це побачив, то припав до колін Ісусових, кажучи: „Господи, — вийди від мене, бо я грішна люди́на!“
For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;
Бо від по́лову риби, що зловили вони, обгорнув жах його та й усіх, хто з ним був,
and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.”
також Якова й Івана, синів Зеведе́євих, що були спільника́ми Си́мона. І сказав Ісус Си́монові: „Не лякайсь, — від цього ча́су ти будеш ловити людей!“
When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.
І вони повитяга́ли на землю човни́, покинули все, — та й пішли вслід за Ним.
The Leper and the Paralytic
While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
А як Він перебува́в в одно́му з міст, ось один чоловік, увесь укритий проказою, Ісуса побачивши, упав ницьма, та й благав Його, кажучи: „Господи, коли хочеш, — Ти можеш очи́стити мене!“
And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately the leprosy left him.
А Він руку простяг, доторкнувся до нього й сказав: „Хо́чу, — будь чистий!“ І зараз із нього проказа зійшла.
And He ordered him to tell no one, “But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
І звелів Він йому не казати ніко́му про це. „Але йди, покажися священикові, і принеси за своє очи́щення, як Мойсей наказав, на сві́дчення їм“.
But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
А чутка про Нього ще більше пішла, і багато наро́ду прихо́дило слухати та вздоровлятись від Нього з неду́гів своїх.
But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Він же відходив на місце самотнє й молився.
One day He was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing.
І сталось одного із днів, коли Він навчав, і сиділи фарисеї й законовчи́телі, що посхо́дилися зо всіх сіл Галілеї й Юдеї та з Єрусалиму, а сила Господня готова була вздоровляти їх,
And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him.
і ось люди на ложі прине́сли чоловіка, що розсла́блений був, і намагалися вне́сти його, і перед Ним покла́сти.
But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus.
Не знайшовши ж кудою проне́сти його з-за наро́ду, злізли на дім, і крізь стелю спустили із ложем його на сере́дину перед Ісуса.
Seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
І, побачивши їхню віру, сказав Він йому: „Чоловіче, прощаються тобі гріхі твої!“
The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”
А книжники та фарисеї почали міркувати й казати: „Хто ж Оцей, що богознева́гу говорить? Хто може прощати гріхи, окрім Бога Самого?“
But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
Відчувши ж Ісус думки́ їхні, промовив у відповідь їм: „Що́ міркуєте ви в серцях ваших?
“Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?
Що́ легше: сказати: „Прощаються тобі гріхи твої“, чи сказати: „Уставай та й ходи“?
“But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” — He said to the paralytic — “I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.”
Але́ щоб ви знали, що Син Лю́дський має вла́ду на землі прощати гріхи́“, — тож каже Він розсла́бленому: „Кажу́ Я тобі: Уставай, візьми ложе своє, та й іди у свій дім!“
Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.
І той зараз устав перед ними, узявши те, на чому лежав, і пішов у свій дім, прославляючи Бога.
They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
І всіх жах обгорнув, — і сла́вили Бога вони. І перепо́внились стра́хом, говорячи: „Дивні речі сьогодні ми бачили!“
Call of Levi (Matthew)
After that He went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and He said to him, “Follow Me.”
Після цього ж Він вийшов, і побачив ми́тника, на йме́ння Леві́я, що сидів на ми́тниці, та й промовив йому: „Іди за Мною!“
And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow Him.
І, покинувши все, той устав, і пішов услід за Ним.
And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them.
І справив Леві́й у своїм домі велику гости́ну для Нього. І був на́товп великий ми́тників й інших, що сиділи з Ним при столі.
The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”
Фарисеї ж та книжники їхні нарікали на Нього, та учням Його говорили: „Чому́ з ми́тниками та із грішниками ви їсте́ та п'єте́?“
And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.
А Ісус відповів і промовив до них: „Лікаря не потребують здорові, а слабі.
“I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Не прийшов Я, щоб праведних кликати до покая́ння, а грішних“.
And they said to Him, “The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.”
Вони ж відказали до Нього: „Чому́ учні Іванові часто по́стять та моляться, також і фарисейські, а Твої споживають та п'ють?“
And Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?
Ісус же промовив до них: „Чи ж ви можете змусити, щоб по́стили гості весільні, поки з ними ще є молоди́й?
“But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.”
Але при́йдуть ті дні, коли заберуть молодого від них, — тоді й по́стити будуть тих днів“.
And He was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.
Розповів же і при́казку їм: „Ніхто ла́тки з одежі ново́ї в одежу стару не вставляє, а то подере́ й нову́, а латка з ново́ї старій не надасться.
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.
І ніхто не вливає вина молодого в старі бурдюки́, а то попрорива́є вино молоде бурдюки́, — і вино розіллє́ться, і бурдюки́ пропадуть.
“But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.
Але треба вливати вино молоде до нови́х бурдюкі́в.
