The Deity of Jesus Christ
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
На початку було Слово, а Слово в Бога було́, і Бог було Слово.
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Усе через Нього повста́ло, і ніщо, що повста́ло, не повстало без Ньо́го.
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
І життя було в Нім, а життя було Світлом людей.
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
А Світло у те́мряві світить, і те́мрява не обгорну́ла його.
The Witness John
There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Був один чоловік, що від Бога був по́сланий, — йому йме́ння Іван.
He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.
Він прийшов на свідо́цтво, щоб засві́дчити про Світло, щоб повірили всі через нього.
He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
Він тим Світлом не був, але сві́дчити мав він про Світло.
There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
Світлом правдивим був Той, Хто просвічує кожну люди́ну, що прихо́дить на світ.
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
Воно в світі було, і світ через Нього повстав, але світ не пізнав Його.
He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
До свого Воно прибуло́, — та свої відцура́лись Його.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
А всім, що Його прийняли́, їм вла́ду дало́ дітьми́ Божими стати, тим, що вірять у Йме́ння Його,
who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
що не з крови, ані з пожадли́вости тіла, ані з пожадливости мужа, але народились від Бога.
The Word Made Flesh
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
І Слово сталося тілом, і перебува́ло між нами, повне благодаті та правди, і ми бачили славу Його, славу як Одноро́дженого від Отця.
John testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’”
Іван сві́дчить про Нього, і кликав, говорячи: „Це був Той, що про Нього казав я: Той, Хто прийде за мною, існував передо мною, бо був перше, ніж я“.
For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
А з Його повноти́ ми оде́ржали всі, — а то благода́ть на благода́ть.
For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
Зако́н бо через Мойсея був да́ний, а благода́ть та правда з'явилися через Ісуса Христа.
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

The Testimony of John
This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
А це ось свідо́цтво Іванове, як юдеї послали були з Єрусалиму священиків та Левитів, щоб спитали його: „Хто́ ти такий?“
And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”
І він визнав, і не зрікся, а визнав: „Я — не Христос“.
They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”
І запитали його: „А хто ж? Чи Ілля́?“ І відказує: „Ні!“ „Чи пророк?“ І дав відповідь: „Ні!“
Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”
Сказали ж йому: „Хто́ ж ти такий, щоб дати відповідь тим, хто послав нас? Що́ ти кажеш про себе самого?“
He said, “I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
Відказав: „Я голос того, хто кличе: В пустині рівняйте дорогу Господню“, як Іса́я пророк заповів“.
They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
І вони запитали його та сказали йому́: „Для чого ж ти христиш, коли ти не Христос, ні Ілля, ні пророк?“
John answered them saying, “I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know.
Відповів їм Іван, промовляючи: „Я водою хрищу́, а між вами стоїть, що Його ви не знаєте.
“It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.”
Він Той, Хто за мною йде, Хто до мене був, Кому розв'яза́ти ремінця́ від узуття́ Його я негідний“.
These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Це в Віфа́нії ді́ялося, на тім боці Йорда́ну, де христив був Іван.
The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Наступного дня Іван бачить Ісуса, що до нього йде, та й каже: „Оце А́гнець Божий, що на Се́бе гріх світу бере!
“This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’
Це Той, що про Нього казав я: За мною йде Муж, що передо мною Він був, бо був перше, ніж я.
“I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.”
І не знав я Його́; та для того прийшов я, христивши водою, щоб Ізраїлеві Він з'явився“.
John testified saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him.
І сві́дчив Іван, промовляючи: „Бачив я Духа, що сходив, як голуб, із неба, та зоставався на Ньому.
“I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’
І не знав я Його, але Той, Хто христити водою послав мене, мені оповів: „Над Ким Духа побачиш, що сходить і зостається на Ньому, — це Той, Хто христитиме Духом Святим“.
“I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
І я бачив, і засві́дчив, що Він — Божий Син!“
Jesus’ Public Ministry, First Converts
Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,

and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”
І, поглянувши на Ісуса, що проходив, він сказав: „Ото А́гнець Божий!“
The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
І почули два у́чні, як він говорив, та й пішли за Ісусом.
And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?”
А Ісус обернувся й побачив, що вони йшли за Ним, та й каже до них: „Чого́ ви шукаєте?“ А вони відказали Йому: „Равві́ — перекладене це визначає: „Учителю“, — де Ти живеш?“
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
Він говорить до них: „Ходіть і побачте!“ Ті пішли та й побачили, де́ Він жив, і в Нього той день перебули́. Було ж коло години десятої.
One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
А один із тих двох, що чули від Івана та йшли вслід за Ним, був Андрій, брат Си́мона Петра.
He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which translated means Christ).
Він знайшов перше Си́мона, брата свого, та й говорить до нього: „Знайшли ми Месі́ю, що визначає: Христос“.
He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).
І привів він його до Ісуса. На нього ж спогля́нувши, промовив Ісус: „Ти — Си́мон, син Йо́нин; будеш званий ти Ки́фа, що визначає: камінь“.
The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He found Philip. And Jesus said to him, “Follow Me.”
Наступного дня захотів Він піти в Галілею. І знайшов Він Пилипа та й каже йому: „Іди за Мною!“
Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
А Пилип із Віфсаїди похо́див, із міста Андрія й Петра.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote — Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
Пилип Натанаї́ла знахо́дить та й каже йому: „Ми знайшли Того, що про Нього писав був Мойсей у Зако́ні й Пророки, — Ісуса, сина Йо́сипового, із Назаре́ту“.
Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
І сказав йому Натанаї́л: „Та хіба ж може бути з Назаре́ту що добре?“ Пилип йому каже: „Прийди та побач“.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”
Ісус, угледівши Натанаїла, що до Нього Йде, говорить про нього: „Ото справді ізра́їльтянин, що немає в нім пі́дступу!“
Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
Говорить Йому Натанаїл: „Звідки знаєш мене?“ Ісус відповів і до нього сказав: „Я бачив тебе ще давніш, ніж Пилип тебе кликав, як під фіґовим деревом був ти“.
Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.”
Відповів Йому Натанаїл: „Учителю, Ти — Син Божий, Ти — Цар Ізраїлі́в!“
Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”
Ісус відповів і до нього сказав: „Через те віриш ти, що сказав Я тобі, що під фіґовим деревом бачив тебе? Більш від цього побачиш!“
And He said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
І Він каже йому: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Відтепе́р ви побачите небо відкрите та анголів Божих, що на Лю́дського Сина підіймаються та спускаються“.
