And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
І на́гло зчинився шум із не́ба, ніби буря рапто́ва зірва́лася, і перепо́внила ввесь той дім, де сиділи вони.
And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
І з'явилися їм язи́ки поді́лені, немов би огне́нні, та й на кожному з них по одно́му осів.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
Усі ж вони спо́внились Духом Святим, і почали́ говорити іншими мо́вами, як їм Дух промовляти давав.
Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven.
Перебува́ли ж в Єрусалимі юдеї, люди побожні, від усякого наро́ду під небом.
And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.
А коли оцей го́мін зчинився, зібралася бе́зліч наро́ду, — та й диву далися, бо кожен із них тут почув, що вони розмовляли їхньою власною мовою!
They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
Усі ж побенте́жилися та дивувалися, та й казали один до одно́го: „Хіба ж не галіле́яни всі ці, що гово́рять?
“And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?
Як же кожен із нас чує свою́ власну мову, що ми в ній народи́лись?
“Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Парфя́ни та мі́дяни та еламі́ти, також ме́шканці Месопота́мії, Юдеї та Каппадокі́ї, Понту та Азії,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
і Фрі́ґії та Памфі́лії, Єгипту й лівійських земель край Кіре́ни, і захожі римля́ни,
Cretans and Arabs — we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.”
юдеї й нововірці, крі́тяни й араби, — усі чуємо ми, що говорять вони про великі діла Божі мовами нашими!“
And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”
І всі не вихо́дили з дива, і безрадні були, і говорили один до одно́го: „Що ж то статися має?“
But others were mocking and saying, “They are full of sweet wine.”
А інші казали глузу́ючи: „Вони повпива́лись вином молодим!“
Peter’s Sermon
But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.
Ставши ж Петро із Одинадцятьма́, свій голос підніс та й промовив до них: „Мужі юдейські та ме́шканці Єрусалиму! Нехай вам оце стане відо́ме, і послухайте слів моїх!
“For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day;
Бо не п'я́ні вони, як ви ду́маєте, — бо третя година дня,
‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,’ God says,
‘THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND;
AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY,
AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS,
AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
‘THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND;
AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY,
AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS,
AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
„І буде останніми днями, говорить Госпо́дь: Я виллю від Духа Свого на всяке тіло, — і будуть пророкува́ти сини ваші та ваші до́ньки, юнаки́ ж ваші бачити будуть виді́ння, а старим вашим сни будуть сни́тися.
EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN,
I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT
And they shall prophesy.

І на рабів Моїх і на рабинь Моїх за тих днів Я також виллю від Духа Свого, — і пророкувати вони бу́дуть!
‘AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE
AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW,
BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE.
AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW,
BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE.
І дам чуда на небі вгорі, а внизу на землі ці знаме́на: кров, і огонь, і ку́ряву диму.
‘THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS
AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD,
BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.
AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD,
BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.
Переміниться сонце на те́мряву, а місяць на кров, перше ніж день Господній настане, великий та славний!
‘AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’
І станеться, що кожен, хто покличе Господнє Ім'я́, той спасеться“.
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know —
Мужі ізраїльські, послухайте ви оцих слів: Ісуса Назаряни́на, Мужа, що Його Бог прославив вам силою, і чудами, і тими знаме́нами, що Бог через Нього вчинив серед вас, як самі ви те знаєте,
this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.
Того, що був ви́даний певною волею та передба́ченням Божим, ви руками беззаконників розп'яли́ та забили.
“But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
Та Бог воскресив Його, пута смерти усунувши, — вона бо тримати Його не могла.
“For David says of Him,
‘I SAW THE LORD ALWAYS IN MY PRESENCE;
FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, SO THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
‘I SAW THE LORD ALWAYS IN MY PRESENCE;
FOR HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, SO THAT I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
Бо каже про Нього Давид: „Мав я Господа за́всіди перед очима своїми, бо Він по правиці моїй, щоб я не захитався.
‘THEREFORE MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUE EXULTED;
MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE;
MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE;
Тому серце моє звеселилось, і зрадів мій язик, і тіло моє відпочи́не в надії.
BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES,
NOR ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.
NOR ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.
Бо не позоставши Ти в аду́ моєї душі, і не даси Ти Своєму Святому побачити тління!
‘YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO ME THE WAYS OF LIFE;
YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.’
YOU WILL MAKE ME FULL OF GLADNESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE.’
Ти дороги життя об'явив мені, Ти мене перепо́вниш утіхою перед обличчям Своїм“!
“Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Мужі-браття! Нехай буде вільно мені сміло сказати вам про патріярха Давида, що помер і похований, і знахо́диться гріб його в нас аж до цього дня.
“And so, because he was a prophet and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON HIS THRONE,
А бувши ж пророком, та відаючи, що „Бог клятвою клявся йому посади́ти на престолі його від плоду його сте́гон“,
he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY.
у передба́ченні він говорив про Христове воскре́сення, що „не буде зоставлений в аду́“, ані тіло Його „не зазнає зотління“.
“This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
Бог Ісуса Цього воскресив, чого свідки всі ми!
“Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.
А отож, як правицею Божою був Він возне́сений, і обі́тницю Духа Святого прийняв від Отця, то й злив Він оте, що ви бачите й чуєте.
“For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says:
‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD,
“SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND,
‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD,
“SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND,
Не зійшов бо на небо Давид, але сам він говорить: „Промовив Госпо́дь Господе́ві моєму: Сядь право́руч Мене,
UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET.”’
доки не покладу́ Я Твоїх ворогів підніжком ногам Твоїм!“
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ — this Jesus whom you crucified.”
Ото ж, нехай ввесь Ізраїлів дім твердо знає, що і Господом, і Христом учинив Бог Його, Того Ісуса, що Його розп'яли́ ви!“
The Ingathering
Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?”
Як почули ж оце, вони серцем розжа́лобились, та й сказали Петрові та іншим апо́столам: „Що ж ми маємо робити, мужі-браття?“
Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
А Петро до них каже: „Покайтеся, і нехай же охриститься кожен із вас у Ім'я́ Ісуса Христа на відпу́щення ваших гріхів, — і да́ра Духа Святого ви при́ймете!
“For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
Бо для вас ця обі́тниця, і для ваших дітей, і для всіх, що „дале́ко знаходяться, кого б тільки покликав Госпо́дь, Бог наш“.
And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!”
І іншими багатьома́ словами він засвідчував та вмовляв їх, говорячи: „Рятуйтесь від цього лукавого роду!“
So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.
Отож ті, хто прийняв його слово, охристилися. І пристало до них того дня душ тисяч зо три!
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
І вони перебува́ли в науці апо́стольській, та в спільно́ті брате́рській, і в лама́нні хліба, та в моли́твах.
Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.
І був о́страх у кожній душі, бо багато чинили апо́столи чуд та знаме́н.
And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;
А всі віруючі були вкупі, і мали все спі́льним.
and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
І вони продавали маєтки та до́бра, і всім їх ділили, як кому чого треба було́.
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,
І кожного дня перебува́ли вони однодушно у храмі, і, ломлячи хліб по домах, поживу приймали із радістю та в сердечній просто́ті,
