Коли побачиш вола свого брата або щось із ота́ри, що заблуди́ли, то ти не сховаєшся від них, а конче вернеш їх своєму братові.
“If your countryman is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall remain with you until your countryman looks for it; then you shall restore it to him.
А якщо брат твій не близьки́й до тебе, чи ти не знаєш його, то забереш те до дому свого, і воно буде з тобою, аж поки брат твій не буде шукати його, — і пове́рнеш його йому.
“Thus you shall do with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with anything lost by your countryman, which he has lost and you have found. You are not allowed to neglect them.
І так зробиш ослові його, і так зробиш одежі його, і так зробиш усякій згу́бі брата свого, що згу́блена в нього, а ти зна́йдеш її, — не зможеш ховати її.
“You shall not see your countryman’s donkey or his ox fallen down on the way, and pay no attention to them; you shall certainly help him to raise them up.
Коли побачиш осла свого брата або вола його, що впали на дорозі, то ти не сховаєшся від них, — конче піді́ймеш їх ра́зом із ним.
“A woman shall not wear man’s clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.
Не буде чоловіча річ на жінці, а мужчи́на не зодягне́ жіночої одежі, бо кожен, хто чинить це, — огида він для Господа, Бога свого.
“If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young;
Коли спіткається на дорозі пташи́не кубло перед тобою на якомубудь дереві чи на землі з пташеня́тами або з яйцями, а мати сидить на пташенятах або на яйцях, то не ві́зьмеш тієї матері з дітьми, —
you shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.
конче відпустиш ту матір, а дітей ві́зьмеш собі, щоб було добре тобі, і щоб ти продовжив свої дні.
“When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you will not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone falls from it.
Коли збудуєш нови́й дім, то зробиш пору́ччя для да́ху свого, і не напровадиш крови на дім свій, коли спаде з нього хтось.
“You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, or all the produce of the seed which you have sown and the increase of the vineyard will become defiled.
Не будеш засівати свого виноградника подвійним насінням, щоб не зробити заклятим усе насіння: і що засієш, і врожай виноградинка.
“You shall not wear a material mixed of wool and linen together.
Не одягнеш одежі з двійно́го матеріялу, — з вовни й льо́ну ра́зом.
“You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself.
Поро́биш собі кута́си на чотирьох края́х свого покриття, що ним покриваєшся.
Laws on Morality
“If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and then turns against her,
Коли хто ві́зьме жінку, і вві́йде до неї, але потім знена́видить її,
and charges her with shameful deeds and publicly defames her, and says, ‘I took this woman, but when I came near her, I did not find her a virgin,’
і зводитиме на неї ганьбли́ві слова́, і пустить про неї неславу та й скаже: „Жінку цю взяв я, і збли́зився з нею, та не знайшов у неї діво́цтва“,
then the girl’s father and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of the girl’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate.
то ві́зьме батько тієї дівчини та мати її, і віднесуть доказа діво́цтва тієї ді́вчини до старши́х міста, до брами.
“The girl’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, but he turned against her;
І скаже батько тієї ді́вчини до старши́х: „Я дав тому чоловікові дочку́ свою за жінку, та він знена́видів її.
and behold, he has charged her with shameful deeds, saying, “I did not find your daughter a virgin.” But this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city.
І ось він зводить на неї ганьбли́ві слова, говорячи: „Я не знайшов у твоєї дочки́ діво́цтва“, а оце знаки дівоцтва моєї дочки“. І розтягнуть одежу перед старши́ми міста.
“So the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him,
А старші́ того міста ві́зьмуть того чоловіка, та й покарають його,
and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl’s father, because he publicly defamed a virgin of Israel. And she shall remain his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days.
і накладуть на нього пеню́, сто шеклів срібла, — і дадуть батькові тієї дівчини, — бо він пустив неславу на Ізраїлеву ді́вчину, а вона буде йому за жінку, — він не зможе відпустити її по всі свої дні.
“But if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin,
А якщо правдою було́ це слово, — не зна́йдене було діво́цтво в тієї дівчини, —
then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father’s house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
то приведуть ту дівчину до дверей дому батька її, і вкаменують її люди її міста камінням, — і вона помре, бо зробила негідність між Ізраїлем на спроневі́рення дому батька свого, — і вигубиш зло з-посеред себе.
“If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.
Коли буде зна́йдений хто, що лежить із замі́жньою жінкою, то помруть вони обо́є, — той чоловік, що лежав із жінкою, і та жінка, і вигубиш зло з Ізраїля.
“If there is a girl who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her,
Коли ді́вчина буде зару́чена чоловікові, і спіткає її хто в місті, і ляже з нею,
then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city and you shall stone them to death; the girl, because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he has violated his neighbor’s wife. Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
то виведете їх обох до брами того міста, і вкаменуєте їх камінням, і вони помруть, — ту дівчину за те, що не кричала в місті, а того чоловіка за те, що збезчестив жінку свого ближнього, і вигубиш зло серед себе.
“But if in the field the man finds the girl who is engaged, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lies with her shall die.
А як хто на полі спітка́є зару́чену дівчину, і схо́пить її та й ляже з нею, то помре той чоловік, що ліг із нею, він сам,
“But you shall do nothing to the girl; there is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as a man rises against his neighbor and murders him, so is this case.
а тій дівчині не зробиш нічо́го, — нема тій дівчині смерте́льного гріха́, бо це таке, як повстане хто на свого ближнього й уб'є його, така це річ.
“When he found her in the field, the engaged girl cried out, but there was no one to save her.
Бо в полі він спіткав її, — кричала та зару́чена дівчина, та не було кому врятувати її.
“If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered,
Коли хто спіткає дівчину, що не була зару́чена, і схо́пить її, і ляже з нею, і застануть їх,
then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because he has violated her; he cannot divorce her all his days.
то той чоловік, що лежав із нею, дасть батькові тієї дівчини п'ятдеся́т шеклів срібла, і вона стане йому за жінку, за те, що збезчестив її, — не зможе він відпустити її по всі свої дні.
