Foundations for Living

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.

1

І я, браттє, не міг промовляти до вас, яко до духовних, а яко до тїлесних, яко до малолїтків у Христї.

I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,

Молоком поїв вас, а не стравою; ще бо не змогли (знести того), та ще й тепер не можете, ще бо ви тїлесні.

for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?

Коли бо між вами зависть та сварня, та незгода, то хиба ж не тїлесні ви й хиба не чоловічим робом ходите?

4

For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not mere men?

Коли бо каже хто: Я Павлів; другий же: Я Аполосів; то хиба ж не тїлесні ви?

What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.

Хто ж Павел і хто Аполос? Та же ж вони тільки слуги, через котрих ви увірували, і як кому дав Господь.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.

Я посадив, Аполос поливав, Бог же зростив.

So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.

Тим то нїщо й той, хто садить, і хто поливає, а хто зрощує — Бог.

8

Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

Хто ж садить і хто поливає, сї одно, кожний же прийме нагороду свою по своїм трудї.

9

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

9

Бо ми Божі помічники, ви Боже поле, Божа будівля.

10

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.

По благодатї Божій, даній менї, яко мудрий будівничий, положив я основину, инший же будує. Нехай же кожен дивить ся, як він будує.

11

For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Иншої бо підвалини нїхто не може положити окрім тієї, що положена, котра єсть Ісус Христос.

Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

Коли ж хто будує на сїй підвалинї з золота, срібла, дорогого каменя, дерева, сїна, очерету, —

13

each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.

кожного дїло буде явне; день бо (Господень) покаже, тим що в огнї відкриєть ся, і яка в кожного робота, огонь випробує.

14

If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.

14

Коли робота встоїть, хто вибудував — прийме нагороду.

15

If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

15

Коли робота згорить, понесе шкоду, сам же спасеть ся, тільки так, як через огонь.

16

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

16

Хиба не знаєте, що ви храм Божий, і Дух Божий живе в вас?

17

If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.

Коли хто зруйнує Божий храм, зруйнує його Бог: бо храм Божий сьвят, котрий єсте ви.

18

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.

18

Нехай нїхто себе не обманює. Коли хто між вами здаєть ся мудрим у віку сьому, нехай буде дурним, щоб бути премудрим.

19

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS”;

Бо премудрість сьвіта сього — дурощі у Бога, писано бо: Спіймає премудрих в хитрощах їх.

20

and again, “THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.”

20

І знов: Господь знає думки мудрих, що вони марні.

21

So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you,

21

Тим же нїхто нехай не хвалить ся в людях; все бо ваше:

22

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,

22

Чи то Павел, чи Аполос, чи Кифа, чи сьвіт, чи життє, чи смерть, чи теперішнє, чи будуче, — все ваше,

23

and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.

23

ви ж Христові, а Христос Божий.
