English Standard Version

  • Servants of Christ

    Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
  • The Ministry of Apostles

    This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
  • In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.
  • Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
  • But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human court; in fact, I do not even examine myself.
  • But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
  • For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.
  • For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.
  • Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God.
  • Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
  • Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.
  • I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,a that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.
  • For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
  • For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
  • You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you.
  • Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you!
  • For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.
  • For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.
  • We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor.
  • We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.
  • To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless;
  • To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless,
  • and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure;
  • and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;
  • when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.
  • when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.
  • I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.
  • I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.
  • For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
  • For though you have countlessb guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
  • Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me.
  • I urge you, then, be imitators of me.
  • For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church.
  • That is why I sentc you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ,d as I teach them everywhere in every church.
  • Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.
  • Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.
  • But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power.
  • But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power.
  • For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.
  • For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.
  • What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?
  • What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?
