Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

Отож, благаю вас я, в'я́зень у Господі, щоб ви пово́дилися гі́дно покли́кання, що до нього покликано вас,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
зо всякою покорою та ла́гідністю, з довготерпінням, у любові те́рплячи один о́дного,
being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
Одне тіло, один Дух, як і були ви покликані в одній надії вашого покли́кання.
one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
один Бог і Отець усіх, що Він над усіма́, і через усіх, і в усіх.
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Therefore it says,
“WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH,
HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES,
AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.”
“WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH,
HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES,
AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.”
Тому́ й сказано: „Піднявшися на висоту́, Ти полоне́них набрав і лю́дям дав да́ри!“
(Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth?
А те, що „піднявся був“, що́ то, як не те, що перше й зійшов був до найнижчих місць землі?
He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)
Хто зійшов був, Той саме й піднявся ви́соко над усі небеса́, щоб напо́внити все.
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
І Він, отож, настанови́в одних за апо́столів, одних за пророків, а тих за благові́сників, а тих за па́стирів та вчителі́в,
for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
щоб приготува́ти святих на ді́ло служби для збудува́ння тіла Христового,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
аж поки ми всі не дося́гнемо з'єднання віри й пізна́ння Сина Божого, Мужа досконалого, у міру зросту Христової повноти́,
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
щоб більш не були́ ми малолі́тками, що хитаються й захоплюються від усякого вітру науки за лю́дською ома́ною та за лукавством до хитрого блу́ду,
but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
щоб були ми правдомовні в любові, і в усьому зростали в Нього, а Він — Голова, Христос.
from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
А з Нього все тіло, скла́дене й зв'язане всяким допомічни́м сугло́бом, у міру чинности кожного окремого члена, чи́нить зріст тіла на будува́ння самого себе любов'ю.
The Christian’s Walk
So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,
Отже, говорю я це й свідку́ю в Господі, щоб ви більш не пово́дилися, як пово́дяться погани в марно́ті свого розуму, —
being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;
вони запа́морочені розумом, відчу́жені від життя Божого за не́уцтво, що в них, за стверділість їхніх серде́ць,
and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
вони отупіли й віддали́ся розпусті, щоб чинити всяку не́чисть із заже́рливістю.
if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,
якщо ви чули про Нього, і навчилися в Нім, бо правда в Ісусі,
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
щоб відкинути, за першим поступо́ванням, старо́го чоловіка, який зотліває в звабли́вих пожадливостях,
and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
і зодягнутися в ново́го чоловіка, ство́реного за Богом у праведності й святості правди.
Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.
Тому́ то, неправду відкинувши, говоріть кожен правду до свого ближнього, бо ми члени один для о́дного.
BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
Гнівайтеся, та не грішіть, — сонце нехай не заходить у вашому гніві,
He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
Хто крав, нехай більше не кра́де, а краще нехай працює та чинить руками своїми добро, щоб мати подати нужде́нному.
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Нехай жодне слово гниле не виходить із уст ваших, але тільки таке, що добре на потрібне збудува́ння, щоб воно подало́ благода́ть тим, хто чує.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
І не засму́чуйте Духа Святого Божого, Яким ви запечатані на день ви́купу.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Усяке подратува́ння, і гнів, і лютість, і крик, і лайка нехай буде взято від вас ра́зом із уся́кою злобо́ю.
