Be Imitators of God
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
Отже, будьте наслідувачами Богові, як улю́блені діти,
and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
і поводьтеся в любові, як і Христос полюбив вас, і видав за нас Само́го Себе, як дар і жертву Богові на приємні па́хощі.
But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
А розпуста та не́чисть усяка й заже́рливість нехай навіть не згадуються поміж вами, як ли́чить святим,
and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
і гидо́та, і марносло́вство або жарти, що непристойні вам, але краще дя́кування.
For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Знайте бо це, що жоден розпу́сник, чи нечистий, або заже́рливий, що він ідоля́нин, не має спа́дку в Христовому й Божому Царстві!
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Нехай вас не зво́дить ніхто словами марно́тними, бо гнів Божий приходить за них на неслухня́них, —
for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light
Ви бо були колись те́мрявою, тепер же ви світло в Господі, — поводьтеся, як діти світла,
(for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
бо плід світла знахо́диться в кожній добрості́, і праведності, і правді.
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
і не беріть участи в неплідних ділах те́мряви, а краще й докоряйте.
for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
Бо соромно навіть казати про те, що роблять вони потає́мно!
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
Усе ж те, що світлом докоряється, стає явне, бо все, що явне стає, то світло.
For this reason it says,
“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.”
“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.”
Через це то й говорить: „Сплячий, вставай, і воскре́сни із мертвих, — і Христос осві́тлить тебе!“
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
Отож, уважайте, щоб поводитися обере́жно, не як немудрі, але як мудрі,
making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
використо́вуючи час, — дні бо лукаві!
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Через це не будьте нерозумні, але розумійте, що́ є воля Господня.
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
І не впивайтесь вином, в якому розпуста, але краще напо́внюйтесь Духом,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
розмовляючи поміж собою псалма́ми, і гі́мнами, і пісня́ми духовними, співаючи й граючи в серці своєму для Господа,
always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
дякуючи за́вжди за все Богові й Отцеві в Ім'я́ Господа нашого Ісуса Христа,
and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
ко́рячися один о́дному у Христовім страху́.
Marriage Like Christ and the Church
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Дружи́ни, — корі́ться своїм чоловікам, як Господе́ві, —
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
бо чоловік — голова дружи́ни, як і Христос — Голова Церкви, Сам Спаситель тіла!
But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
І як ко́риться Церква Христові, так і дружи́ни своїм чоловікам у всьо́му.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Чоловіки, — любіть своїх дружи́н, як і Христос полюбив Церкву, і віддав за неї Себе,
so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
щоб її освятити, очистивши водяним ку́пелем у слові,
that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
щоб поставити її Собі славною Церквою, що не має плями чи вади, чи чогось такого, але щоб була́ свята й непорочна!
So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;
Чоловіки повинні любити дружи́н своїх так, як власні тіла, бо хто любить дружи́ну свою, той любить самого себе.
for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
Бо ніко́ли ніхто не знена́видів власного тіла, а годує та гріє його, як і Христос Церкву,
FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.
„Покине тому́ чоловік батька й матір, і пристане до дружи́ни своєї, — і бу́дуть обоє вони одним тілом“.
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
Ця таємниця велика, — а я говорю́ про Христа та про Церкву!
