New American Standard Bible

English Standard Version

  • “Difficult Times Will Come”

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
  • Godlessness in the Last Days

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
  • For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
  • For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
  • unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
  • heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,
  • treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
  • treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
  • holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
  • having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
  • For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
  • For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,
  • always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
  • always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
  • Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.
  • Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.
  • But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also.
  • But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.
  • Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
  • All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God

You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,
  • persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
  • my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra — which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me.
  • Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
  • Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
  • But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
  • while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
  • You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
  • But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whoma you learned it
  • and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
  • and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
  • so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
  • that the man of Godb may be complete, equipped for every good work.
