The Perfect High Priest
For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;

Кожен бо первосвященик, що з-між людей вибирається, настановляється для людей на служі́ння Богові, щоб прино́сити да́ри та жертви за гріхи,
he can deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is beset with weakness;
і щоб міг співчува́ти недосві́дченим та заблу́дженим, бо й сам він пере́йнятий слабістю.
and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins, as for the people, so also for himself.
І тому́ він повинен як за людей, так само й за себе само́го прино́сити жертви за гріхи.
And no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.
А чести цієї ніхто не бере сам собою, а покликаний Богом, як і Ааро́н.
So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him,
“YOU ARE MY SON,
TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU”;
“YOU ARE MY SON,
TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU”;
Так і Христос, — не Сам Він просла́вив Себе, щоб Первосвящеником стати, а Той, що до Нього сказав: „Ти Мій Син, Я сьогодні Тебе породи́в“.
just as He says also in another passage,
“YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER
ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.”

Як і на іншому місці гово́рить: „Ти Священик навіки за чином Мелхиседе́ковим“.
In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.
Він за днів тіла Свого з голосі́нням великим та слізьми́ приніс був блага́ння й молитви до Того, Хто від смерти Його міг спасти, — і був вислуханий за побожність Свою.
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.
І хоч Сином Він був, проте́ навчився по́слуху з того, що вистраждав був.
And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,
А вдоскона́лившися, Він для всіх, хто слухня́ний Йому, спричини́вся для вічного спасі́ння,
being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.
і від Бога був на́званий Первосвящеником за чином Мелхиседе́ковим.
Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
Про це нам би треба багато казати, та ви́словити важко його, бо нездібні ви стали, щоб слухати.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
Ви бо за віком повинні б бути вчителя́ми, але ви потребуєте ще, щоб хтось вас навчав перших поча́тків Божого Сло́ва. І ви стали такими, яким потрібне молоко, а не стра́ва тверда́.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
Бо хто молока вживає, той недосві́дчений у слові праведности, — бо він немовля́.
