New Living Translation

  • Six Bowls of Wrath

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple, saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
  • Then I heard a mighty voice from the Temple say to the seven angels, “Go your ways and pour out on the earth the seven bowls containing God’s wrath.”
  • So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.
  • So the first angel left the Temple and poured out his bowl on the earth, and horrible, malignant sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue.
  • The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man; and every living thing in the sea died.
  • Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse. And everything in the sea died.
  • Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.
  • Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs, and they became blood.
  • And I heard the angel of the waters saying, “Righteous are You, who are and who were, O Holy One, because You judged these things;
  • And I heard the angel who had authority over all water saying,
“You are just, O Holy One, who is and who always was,
because you have sent these judgments.
  • for they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. They deserve it.”
  • Since they shed the blood
of your holy people and your prophets,
you have given them blood to drink.
    It is their just reward.”
  • And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”
  • And I heard a voice from the altar,a saying,
“Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty,
your judgments are true and just.”
  • The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.
  • Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, causing it to scorch everyone with its fire.
  • Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.
  • Everyone was burned by this blast of heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had control over all these plagues. They did not repent of their sins and turn to God and give him glory.
  • Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain,
  • Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness. His subjects ground their teethb in anguish,
  • and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.
  • and they cursed the God of heaven for their pains and sores. But they did not repent of their evil deeds and turn to God.
  • The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east.
  • Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it dried up so that the kings from the east could march their armies toward the west without hindrance.

  • Armageddon

    And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs;
  • And I saw three evilc spirits that looked like frogs leap from the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.
  • for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.
  • They are demonic spirits who work miracles and go out to all the rulers of the world to gather them for battle against the Lord on that great judgment day of God the Almighty.
  • (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”)
  • “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.”
  • And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.
  • And the demonic spirits gathered all the rulers and their armies to a place with the Hebrew name Armageddon.d

  • And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.
  • Then the thunder crashed and rolled, and lightning flashed. And a great earthquake struck — the worst since people were placed on the earth.
  • The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath.
  • The great city of Babylon split into three sections, and the cities of many nations fell into heaps of rubble. So God remembered all of Babylon’s sins, and he made her drink the cup that was filled with the wine of his fierce wrath.

  • And every island disappeared, and all the mountains were leveled.
  • And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe.
  • There was a terrible hailstorm, and hailstones weighing as much as seventy-five poundse fell from the sky onto the people below. They cursed God because of the terrible plague of the hailstorm.
