Then the five men departed and came to Laish and saw the people who were in it living in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was no ruler humiliating them for anything in the land, and they were far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

So the five men departed and went to Laish. They saw the people who were there, how they dwelt safely, in the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure. There were no rulers in the land who might put them to shame for anything. They were far from the Sidonians, and they had no ties [b]with anyone.

И пошли те пять мужей, и пришли в Лаис, и увидели народ, который в нём, что он живёт покойно, по обычаю Сидонян, тих и беспечен, и что не было в земле той, кто обижал бы в чём, или имел бы власть: от Сидонян они жили далеко, и ни с кем не было у них никакого дела.

То й пішли собі далі п'ятеро мужів та й дійшли до Лаїшу. Там побачили, як люди живуть безпечно в місті, звичаєм сидонським, тихо та спокійно, нічого їм земного не бракує, й були вони в достатках. Від сидоніїв були вони далеко й із Сирією не мали взаємин.

От і пійшли далїй ті пять мужів та й дойшли до Лаіса. Там побачили, як люде живуть безпечно звичаєм Сидонїїв, байдужно й тихо, та що не було в тій землї такого, що обиджав би в чому, або мав би яку власть. Від Сидонїїв вони далеко й не мають нї з ким нїякої справи до спільної оборони. -
І пішли ті п'ятеро людей, і прийшли в Лаїш та й побачили той народ, що в ньому, — він сидить безпечно, за зви́чаєм сидо́нян, спокійний та безпечний. І не було ніко́го, хто робив би їм щось зле в Краю́, посів би вла́ду над ними, і вони дале́ко від сидо́нян, і нема їм ді́ла ні до кого.

Эти пятеро ушли и пришли в Лаиш. Там они увидели, что народ живет спокойно, по обычаю сидонян, тихо и беспечно, не нуждаясь81 ни в чем на земле и обладая богатством.82 Они жили далеко от сидонян и ни с кем83 не были в союзе.

І п’ять мужів пішли. Вони прийшли до Лаїси, і побачили народ, який жив у ньому, що сидів упевнено за приписами сидонян, спокійні в надії, і не могли сказати слова, бо далеко є від Сидону, і не було угоди в них із сирійцями.
