But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife’; and a wild beast that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.

But King Jehoash of Israel replied to King Amaziah of Judah with this story: “Out in the Lebanon mountains, a thistle sent a message to a mighty cedar tree: ‘Give your daughter in marriage to my son.’ But just then a wild animal of Lebanon came by and stepped on the thistle, crushing it!

И послал Иоас, царь Израильский, к Амасии, царю Иудейскому, сказать: тёрн, который на Ливане, послал к кедру, который на Ливане же, сказать: «отдай дочь свою в жену сыну моему». Но прошли дикие звери, что на Ливане, и истоптали этот тёрн.

Та Йоас, ізраїльський цар, послав до Амасії, юдейського царя, так відповісти: “І ливанський будяк послав до ливанського кедра сказати: Видай дочку твою за мого сина. Та пройшли дикі звірі, що на Ливані, і потоптали будяка.

І послав Йоаш, Ізраїлів цар, до Амації, Юдиного царя, говорячи: „Терен, що на Ливані, послав до кедри́ни, що на Ливані, кажучи: Дай же дочку́ свою моєму синові за жінку! Та перейшла́ польова́ звірина́, що на Ливані, і ви́топтала той те́рен.

Но Иоаш, царь Израиля, ответил Амасии, царю Иудеи:
— Ливанский чертополох как-то послал сказать ливанскому кедру: «Отдай свою дочь за моего сына». Но прошел дикий ливанский зверь и вытоптал его. -
І послав Йоас, цар Ізраїля, до Амессії, царя Юди, кажучи: Терня, яке в Лівані, послало до кедра, що в Лівані, кажучи: Дай твою дочку моєму синові за жінку! Та прийшли польові звірі, які в Лівані, і потоптали терня.
