New Living Translation

  • Psalm 28
    Of David.

    To you, Lord, I call;
    you are my Rock,
    do not turn a deaf ear to me.
    For if you remain silent,
    I will be like those who go down to the pit.
  • A psalm of David.

    I pray to you, O LORD, my rock.
    Do not turn a deaf ear to me.
    For if you are silent,
    I might as well give up and die.
  • Hear my cry for mercy
    as I call to you for help,
    as I lift up my hands
    toward your Most Holy Place.
  • Listen to my prayer for mercy
    as I cry out to you for help,
    as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary.
  • Do not drag me away with the wicked,
    with those who do evil,
    who speak cordially with their neighbors
    but harbor malice in their hearts.
  • Do not drag me away with the wicked —
    with those who do evil —
    those who speak friendly words to their neighbors
    while planning evil in their hearts.
  • Repay them for their deeds
    and for their evil work;
    repay them for what their hands have done
    and bring back on them what they deserve.
  • Give them the punishment they so richly deserve!
    Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness.
    Pay them back for all their evil deeds!
    Give them a taste of what they have done to others.
  • Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
    and what his hands have done,
    he will tear them down
    and never build them up again.
  • They care nothing for what the LORD has done
    or for what his hands have made.
    So he will tear them down,
    and they will never be rebuilt!
  • Praise be to the Lord,
    for he has heard my cry for mercy.
  • Praise the LORD!
    For he has heard my cry for mercy.
  • The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
    My heart leaps for joy,
    and with my song I praise him.
  • The LORD is my strength and shield.
    I trust him with all my heart.
    He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
    I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
  • The Lord is the strength of his people,
    a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
  • The LORD gives his people strength.
    He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.
  • Save your people and bless your inheritance;
    be their shepherd and carry them forever.
  • Save your people!
    Bless Israel, your special possession.a
    Lead them like a shepherd,
    and carry them in your arms forever.
