New King James Version

  • Psalm 50
    A psalm of Asaph.

    The Mighty One, God, the Lord,
    speaks and summons the earth
    from the rising of the sun to where it sets.
  • God the Righteous Judge

    A Psalm of Asaph.

    The Mighty One, God the Lord,
    Has spoken and called the earth
    From the rising of the sun to its going down.
  • From Zion, perfect in beauty,
    God shines forth.
  • Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
    God will shine forth.
  • Our God comes
    and will not be silent;
    a fire devours before him,
    and around him a tempest rages.
  • Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent;
    A fire shall devour before Him,
    And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.
  • He summons the heavens above,
    and the earth, that he may judge his people:
  • He shall call to the heavens from above,
    And to the earth, that He may judge His people:
  • “Gather to me this consecrated people,
    who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”
  • “Gather My saints together to Me,
    Those who have [a]made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
  • And the heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    for he is a God of justice.a, b
  • Let the heavens declare His righteousness,
    For God Himself is Judge. Selah
  • “Listen, my people, and I will speak;
    I will testify against you, Israel:
    I am God, your God.
  • “Hear, O My people, and I will speak,
    O Israel, and I will testify against you;
    I am God, your God!
  • I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices
    or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.
  • I will not [b]rebuke you for your sacrifices
    Or your burnt offerings,
    Which are continually before Me.
  • I have no need of a bull from your stall
    or of goats from your pens,
  • I will not take a bull from your house,
    Nor goats out of your folds.
  • for every animal of the forest is mine,
    and the cattle on a thousand hills.
  • For every beast of the forest is Mine,
    And the cattle on a thousand hills.
  • I know every bird in the mountains,
    and the insects in the fields are mine.
  • I know all the birds of the mountains,
    And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
  • If I were hungry I would not tell you,
    for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
  • “If I were hungry, I would not tell you;
    For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.
  • Do I eat the flesh of bulls
    or drink the blood of goats?
  • Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
    Or drink the blood of goats?
  • “Sacrifice thank offerings to God,
    fulfill your vows to the Most High,
  • Offer to God thanksgiving,
    And pay your vows to the Most High.
  • and call on me in the day of trouble;
    I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”
  • Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
    I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
  • But to the wicked person, God says:
    “What right have you to recite my laws
    or take my covenant on your lips?
  • But to the wicked God says:
    “What right have you to declare My statutes,
    Or take My covenant in your mouth,
  • You hate my instruction
    and cast my words behind you.
  • Seeing you hate instruction
    And cast My words behind you?
  • When you see a thief, you join with him;
    you throw in your lot with adulterers.
  • When you saw a thief, you consented[c] with him,
    And have been a partaker with adulterers.
  • You use your mouth for evil
    and harness your tongue to deceit.
  • You give your mouth to evil,
    And your tongue frames deceit.
  • You sit and testify against your brother
    and slander your own mother’s son.
  • You sit and speak against your brother;
    You slander your own mother’s son.
  • When you did these things and I kept silent,
    you thought I was exactlyc like you.
    But I now arraign you
    and set my accusations before you.
  • These things you have done, and I kept silent;
    You thought that I was altogether like you;
    But I will rebuke you,
    And set them in order before your eyes.
  • “Consider this, you who forget God,
    or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
  • “Now consider this, you who forget God,
    Lest I tear you in pieces,
    And there be none to deliver:
  • Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me,
    and to the blamelessd I will show my salvation.”
  • Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;
    And to him who orders his conduct aright
    I will show the salvation of God.”
