    Your enemies cringe before your mighty power.

    they sing praise to you,
    they sing the praises of your name.”a

    let no rebel rise in defiance.

  • You have tested us, O God;
    you have purified us like silver.
  • You brought us into prison
    and laid burdens on our backs.
  • You captured us in your net
    and laid the burden of slavery on our backs.
  • You let people ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and water,
    but you brought us to a place of abundance.
  • Then you put a leader over us.b
    We went through fire and flood,
    but you brought us to a place of great abundance.
  • I will come to your temple with burnt offerings
    and fulfill my vows to you —
  • Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings
    to fulfill the vows I made to you —
  • vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke
    when I was in trouble.
  • yes, the sacred vows that I made
    when I was in deep trouble.
  • I will sacrifice fat animals to you
